Haha. I wouldn’t mind a fresh dusting of snow myself either. Doesn’t look like its gonna happen. At least not likely, anyways.

I hate to miss snowmobiling BUT with little snow I can walk in to the trout pond I found last year. No way I make that walk with deep snow.

    What a day.

The girls and I cleaned out their chicken coop, cut down two ash trees and stacked it all, rode dirtbike, and now I’m debating if I should fish the river for a few hours this evening.

I had 52 degrees here a mile or so from Pool 4.

I thought Saturday was a stunning day out too. It got to 50 by me.

Yesterday wasn’t bad either, just no sun. Today looks lovely.

A brief midweek cold snap will arrive on Tuesday and depart by Friday. There may be a night of below-zero temps even for the southern portion of the state. But its slated to warm back up by next weekened again.

Still no big snomakers in sight either.

The warm up is still below freezing so that’s good for the ice.
I had no problem ice fishing this weekend in NW Wis on two small lakes.
At least Ill have that for Christmas vacation.

Looking like a perfect start to the ice making season! Bet we see people driving (safely) in the next week, and if not for sure before Christmas.

Next weekend should be the girls’ first ice outing of the season. I wasn’t taking them out on 3″ of local ice on a 50 degree day this past weekend. A nice midweek cold shot to freeze up the slush and muck while adding some ice…and then low 30s on Saturday.

There’s nothing like the joy of watching a 2 year old and 4 year old grab fish and show them off like they’re a winning lottery ticket.

Could use a little snow. Hate walking on clear ice. And my outdoor rink is getting dirty everyday.

The feeling doesn’t go away. I still love watching that with a almost 14 yr old and just turned 9 yr old.

1.7 inches of snow thus far recorded in the Twin Cities. The average now is 10.4 inches.

I think we’re in for another brown Christmas.

That will happen over Christmas break. Hopefully the South Shore though since its much closer to our cabin. We are snow chasers but this year its difficult to do overnighters due to one of our dogs being very old. Im scared to kennel her anymore. Day trips from the cabin either riding or trailering is preferred.

We just have to suck it up and keep working. Headed in now. I notice office guys are the biggest complainers when it comes to weather, be it to hot or cold. These are my favorite times of the year lol keeping water flowing to my saw is a nightmare. Oh and union contractors put milk house heaters in the porta pottys only time we don’t get that is if we cut for some small time no one non union contractor. And when we encounter that we waste their time and money by going to a gas station.

We are at -17 right now. Making some good ice at this rate. Almost wish it would last longer then 3 days to make driving on the ice with the truck come a little sooner, but then come the crowds as well.

    -18 here right now

Just checked the chickens, they’re alive but pissed about their frozen water. Gave them some new water and added a caged heat lamp.

Their two 200-watt infrared wall heaters that apparently don’t cut the mustard in the extreme cold. But when they’re on the roost the heaters don’t have much to reflect onto.
