My own anecdotal evidence shows that Winter is getting shorter with each passing year.

Absolutely true. My own anecdotal evidence deer hunting the same week every November indicates the same. Summer is extending further into the fall, and winter is becoming milder as a whole.

I do not think we’ll see a fake winter like we did last year but odds are going to favor something that leans mild versus something that leans harsher solely based on the environmental odds.

Winter 2022-2023 was only 2 years ago… we had a foot of snow on the ground and ice on lakes by mid/late november and it all stayed there until mid April

I know the local meteorologist have said previously that once that colder pattern starts it should stay. Hopefully its right!

Just heard on CCO that some of the indicators are predicting 12″ on snow next weekend.

Sounds like pulltab weather! If we get a storm like that it will flip this pattern in a hurry.

You plan to ride snowmobiles… That will prevent this. Thank you.

Keep these warmer days coming. Loving the extended open water fishing season. This may be the latest I’ve ever fished open water. I’d be fine fishing open water till Christmas.

Its happened before and it wasnt all that long ago. River in Sartell was wide open and there were quite a few boats out there along with people golfing.

Now it’s looking drier too with each model run…especially later next week. Monday/Tuesday look like a nice shot of widespread rain that’s needed, but as far as snow there’s none forecast anymore for most of MN at all next week. The best bet now is the week of Thanksgiving.

Yep, looks like just a good old fashioned soaker on Mon/Tues now. Definitely cooler temps after it moves through too, but nothing super cold. Mostly just average for this time of year.

Rain will move in from the south later this afternoon/evening and continue into tomorrow. Totals range from about an inch to possibly double that in some areas.

The backside with colder air could drop several inches of snow in northwestern MN. After it moves through, temps will drop back towards “normal” for this time of year. I think we’re done with the 50 degree days for the foreseeable future.

It’s trying hard to spoil my day with off and on flurries but nothing is sticking to any roads or sidewalks. We’re at 31 degrees right now but most of the surfaces are warmer. We went to the mall to walk and the city had a truck out treating some roads, but that’s a waste of money right now and I don’t see it getting bad enough to treat roads. BUT then, drivers have a way of removing any common sense from travel so maybe the treatment will keep a few on the road if things do take a few too many flurries and we get a white spot on the road. We’ve got white lines to help keep people in place and they don’t seem to help muck.

Forecast is looking good for ice in northern MN and North Dakota as early as next week on smaller lakes, maybe the week after in central and northern WI

Doing the mini rink in the front yard again. Boards and lights are up, almost filled last night but windy af so waiting until tomorrow night. Should be skating on it by Thanksgiving for sure
