I got about 1.5 inches of rain before the switch to snow. Then 3 inches of the heavy wet stuff. There’s over 2 inches of water in my gauge.

After watching the weather terrorists keep moving out when the rain is supposed to start for the last 3 hours I’m finally seeing rain drops on the deck. rotflol

Low winds and 50’s this week, sounds like a good weekend to be in the boat!

This year sucks. No snow. Then it cant stop raining. Then it cant rain a drop. Not all it does is rain again. Guess deer hunting will be ball sack deep in mud.

Been raining here steady since about 9:30am. Nothing heavy. Just a constant steady rain. Certainly helps with soil moistures before the ground freezes, whenever that happens.

    I agree.

We will happily take a few more slowly acquired inches of rain here in SE Minnesota along the river before the frost sets in.

So far 2.5″ at my house this week. Now I need the leaves to dry out so I can rake one last time.

Wow that’s way more than me for sure. I took my gauge down last weekend so I can’t say exactly how much I received this week. My neighbor told me about 1.25 inches.

Given how dry its been, I think its beneficial. Won’t be any crop harvesting for a while.

Looks like more possible rain Sat night into Sunday.

Those of you looking for more “winter-ish” type weather:

Models are hinting at a pretty drastic weather change towards the middle of next week. Temps will drop from the current mild status to highs in the 30’s after a strong shift from the northwest moves in. Rain will change over to possible measurable snow as well as this change occurs along with stiff winds from the northwest.

I think we all knew this day was going to come at some point. Definitely should have had it by now, but we will take the nice weather we have had this fall for sure. Its been raining here all day.

Lol easy there fellas. Hard to say whether it will last beyond what we can see in the 10 day forecast.

Look at it as more like a “jump start” rather than a long term pattern shift. We could easily slide back into more of a mild trend. I know many of you are craving at least an average winter though so I tried to deliver a ray of hope.

^Until someone shows me otherwise, I’m betting on another warmer than average Winter. This system next week could still only get us more towards “normal” temperatures versus a true cold shot.

Growing up, it was pretty normal to hunt the WI deer opener until 9:00am or so, go icefish some backwater sloughs until the early afternoon, then go back on the bluff to hunt the last few hours of daylight. My own anecdotal evidence shows that Winter is getting shorter with each passing year.
