If I squint just right I can see a (singular) cloud to the North. That’s an upgrade over the past 30 days.

One of the Rochester news outlets said some places were at 34 days without a trace of precipitation in SE MN and that it’d break records for the dryest 5 weeks on record.

We have had several bouts of pea size hail with barely any rain. It was enough to disrupt the satellite feed of the game on FSN/Ballys/FDSN.

this kinda fits in here……with the possibility of rain on wed. how many of you guys put down a fall lawn fertilizer before snow flies???

i read an article the fall fertilizer gives the grass a good head start in the spring and helps it survive during the cruel winter months!!!!!

I put winterizer down last week. I normally try to put it down as close to Oct 1 as possible, but it was so freaking dry I wanted to wait until there was at least some rain in the forecast.

If you want to do it, before Tues/Wed would be a good time. Gotta do it before the ground freezes too, obviously. Which may be a while still.

Near record wamrth again today and tomorrow in some areas. The forecast for tomorrow is nearing 80 degrees again in the southern portion of the state.

Hoping we get some more rain on Tues/Wed.

82 degrees forecasted for tomorrow here, along with high temps at or above 55 degrees for 9 of the next 10 days.

This has the potential (fingers crossed) to be the most “ahead” I’ve ever been heading into Winter with outside work. If I can get a few more field edges cleaned up this week after work, I might even be able to fish or hunt this weekend.

NW Iowa got none of that rain we got last week. It was/is brutally dry there.
This warm fall weather is a bummer in a lot of ways.

I’ve been looking forward to cool fall days. This has definitely not been ideal. One year we will have a real fall for like a month.

Record warmth and record drought is the best fall you’ve ever seen? I hope you’re being sarcastic…

I follow Novak Weather on Facebook and if you’re in southern MN, I highly recommend him. I think he’s been mentioned in this thread before. Anyway, his extended forecast has both record highs and snow. These are interesting times.

^He’s shares a ton of insight into forecasting and is very personable. I’ve met him in person through a mutual friend and he’s a great dude.

With that said, he garners followers/likes/shares with amplifying a few of the weather “swings” a bit. His snowfall stuff and temperature highs and lows are usually embellished just a bit…but I’d likely do the same if it was my business with that many followers

Nope…best fall there ever has been with these temps..

And record drought??? I agree with the record length of time without rain. But obviously we’ve been in worse droughts the previous 2 summers 2022 and 2023…

I like Novak weather too. He is very good IMO. IT wouldnt surprise me that the light switch will flip soon and we are punished in a shocking manner.

Weather people always seem to be on the dramatic side of reality. It has been a dry fall but none of it seems abnormal. Lakes are still feet higher than where they were last fall.

It’s been a good fall for fishing, just need a little temp drop and it’ll continue being a great fall for hunting.

True, I did word that incorrectly.

and it’ll continue being a great fall for hunting.

This part I do not agree with. I think nearly any avid hunter would agree that its been WAY too warm for hunting so far. Record warm September followed by record warm October, not exactly “great” in anyone’s book here.

It was 58 degrees at my house over night. That’s downright absurd for Oct 30.
