1.62 on the digital gauge this morning here in downtown Rochester.

So you two are only 20 miles apart and had over 5 inches difference in rain? That is wild.

I drove thru that storm this morning on 35W heading south, and in Minneapolis it was a downpour. Like only going 40 mph on the highway with the wipers on high, got off on 62 and the west side of Edina and into Eden Prairie the roads were dry.

Its pouring here right now. And the “tenths” will add up fast at the rate its coming down. Its pretty much just straight down pouring at the moment but ten minutes ago it was blowing like crazy, rain halfway into the garage before I got the door closed. .62″ in 15 minutes.

I was in Brookings, SD last night and they received 4.5 inches in abou 90 minutes. Complete black out and down pour for a solid hour and a half. Flash flood to say the least.

Man it is sultry out there today! Working outside for an hour and just nasty humid.

Looks like a line of thunderstorms could develop to the north and move south later. Relief on the way as early as tomorrow and then 70’s all next week, thankfully.

Minnesota has an equal to slightly above normal chance of warmer average temperatures for August September October. And equal to slightly below normal chance for average precipitation. So it might dry things up. Next week is looking nice.

Got hammered by the storm tonight. 2″+ hail and lots of trees and limbs strewn about.
Nobody hurt that I know of. I hear Melrose had an F2 tornado that took out a metal shop and the golf course took quite a hit.

never heard a thing was in bed by 8. See lots of leaves in the yard this morning so guessing wind and or hail but no idea. Haven’t checked the rain gauge yet. Edit, just did a walk around the yard lots of branches down no obvious hail damage to the used car lot I have outside and only .05 in the rain gauge.

3/4in rain here just south of rice. We lost a branch about 8” in diameter from a maple tree and a bunch of leaves and sticks in the yard. Also lost power for a couple hours.

We were at a softball tourney in the cities when the storm rolled through at home in Sauk Rapids. Came home to a bunch of branches and leaves down. 1.25” in the rain gauge. Neighbor stopped by and said he has 20-30 tops of oak trees that snapped off, mature ones too.

Not much here. 69/100s. No hail or high winds. Radar indicated 1″ hail 3 miles west of me.
In the afternoon, 1/2 inch hail was forecasted so I straightened up the garage and pulled my truck in.

We are in for a soaker today. Everyone within shouting distance of 94 is going to get wet today and it just keeps developing and going over the same area

Yep, its a term they use calling “training.” They just keep going over the same area over and over like a train on the tracks. There is a flash flood watch in places already.

After today the temps look fantastic the rest of the week though. 70’s mostly. Way better than that humid heat we’ve recently had.

Sat. evening I drove home from near motley Minnesota to near St. cloud. It was some of the hardest rain I’ve ever been in. There were cars pulled over with flashing lights for miles. It was crazy how hard it was raining and blowing. It was for almost the whole 50 or so mile trip. Needless to say the boat got a great carpet cleaning. Still trying to get it all totally dried out. I pulled the plug when I left the lake. Something must have plugged the drain hole. Sunday when I started the clean up I noticed the batter storage area was about 3/4 full with standing water. Jacked the front up as high as possible and ran a wire in the drain hole and water started pouring out. I was in the garage so got a 5 gallon bucket and keep filling and emptying it. I think I emptied the bucket 10+ times. Thats a lot of water in the hull from just rain. All this rain is starting to get a little old.

Started raining here around midnight last night. Don’t think it has stopped since. Not real hard but steady. My guess it will amount to a fair amount before it all ends.
