My 3500 is under going quite the change. It rattled so bad this morning driving into town that the entire exhaust system fell off, EGR, ECM, fuel delivery rail, fuel pump, turbo….guess it will be officially a farm truck when the new parts go on

I’ve never owned a Ram but I do think they look nice. I’ve driven several Ram 1/2 tons as rentals over the last 5ish years and while I was a little underwhelmed with the interior, they were basic trim vehicles. My main knock on the interior would be the tiny screen – I think it might be smaller than my iphone screen. A truck with that price tag should at the very least be compatible with carplay.

My other relevant Ram experience is a buddy of mine who just bought a 2022 3/4 ton Ram with ~30k miles on it. Within the first 2 weeks, he took it down to SD for a hunting trip and the first time he put it in 4WD something grenaded in the front axel and it has been back at the dealership ever since (November). Every time he calls for an update it gets pushed back another couple weeks. At this point, he’s just hoping to get it back before next hunting season

I recently watched a video on whats been going on at Stellantis (owner of Ram) and its not a good outlook. This video is worth a watch for anyone invested in the Stellantis product mix.

That video is funny. “Jeep and RAM are now viewed as overpriced lemons”

I think the smallest now is 8.4″ and the higher trims are 12″. Big screens are stupid, physical buttons and knobs are better. I kind of wish I went down an equipment package and had the smaller screen.

So it’s not just me. Interesting someone has made the same observations as me and made a video about it. Thanks for sharing.

Here are consumer reports ratings on the brands. I can personally speak to the [lack of] reliability on jeeps.

I agree obnoxiously large screens are unnecessary. But the screens in the Ram 1/2 ton rentals I’ve had have been tiny. Not sure if you’ve seen them but they’re quite lacking.

Thought about buying a Ridgeline next, but the tampon dispenser takes up the spot where I like to keep a pistol

My RL has a pad dispenser because pads are extremely versatile. For example, you can use them as temporary bandages if you get shot in the shoulder by a crooked cop. Just ask Mike Ehrmantraht.

I don’t remember Jeeps ever being considered reliable in my lifetime and I’ll never have one so I don’t care about those lol

For RAMs I’m 100% sure it’s less reliable than many vehicles but being “worse” than a Corolla isn’t very relevant to me. Consumer Reports also outs GMC in their lowest rated brands.

Anyways, I just thought that statement was a bit unsupported in the video and made me chuckle.

I believe Ram went away from having all the controls on the touch screen. Initially did and I agree that is terrible. My GMC has a large screen, but all HVAC controls, heated/cooled seats and other frequently used items are buttons or switches not on the screen.

I feel like the Ridgeline gets mentioned enough that it deserves its own thread.

Although as with Toyotas, it would be interesting to see what there is to talk about beyond really boring reliable performance.

The 2025 has HVAC up and down sides of screen but heated seats and steering wheel is screen only, that’s the main annoyance. I also hate “auto” climate (in every vehicle) and there is only a “mode” button to cycle through where it’s pointing, you have to look at screen to see what is selected.

I have the 12” screen in mine but it’s the Bighorn model. Ram made some kind of in between trims for some reason. Usually you have to go up a trim level for it. I love the big screen because I also have most of the buttons.

As far as quality ratings and these different websites for rating vehicles…for every bad review you can find the opposite. I take very little stock even in the larger ratings like MT and JD.

There are only 5 real truck brands out there…Ram, Ford, Chevy, GM, Toyota. Include Nissan if you want but I don’t know a single person who has owned one. For almost everyone, if you are purchasing it’s very easy to do all the research you want to make a choice. Otherwise, it’s usually your experience with the brand or those you know that own them.

And, Jeep has always been junk. They were originally built for utility and while they aren’t used for that anymore, they are still throw aways. Enzo Ferrari said the only real American sports car was a jeep. That means they are very purpose built but super temperamental.

Didnt know that Reef. I asked about this in a previous thread and someone said they went back to buttons. That is annoying for sure having those things on the touchscreen.

On my 4th Ram….First one was a 3/4 ton Diesel manual
Second one a 3/4 ton Diesel manual replace oil dipstick….
Third one a 1 ton Diesel manual Did not require DEF
Fourth one a 1/2 ton gasser 1 recall that took 15 minutes to fix
Decided that Diesel prices and DEF plus move to Duluth Superior
area and automatic trans shifting was a good move
So far so good….when asked why I buy the Ran…I tell them that I bought the Cummins engine, and the Ram Truck came with it,

In 2014 I got a new to me 2012 half ton Ram with under 30,000 miles. I have just 0ver 205,000. In all those miles the only problem I have had is one dead battery and the drivers side wheel bearing. the last three years it has solely been my hunting and fishing vehicle pulling my boat and fish house. It has taken me many times to North Dakota and Canada and never left me stranded. It does have some rust spots by the wheel well but other then that no complaints.

It’s all a family thing. If your dad drove a ford, your gonna drive ford. If he drove a chevy, you probably own a chevy. If you drive a ram you had two dads.

Do folks really believe that all RAMs have small screens?

    Genuinely curious.
