Last time out on Sunday realized I hadn’t busted out the red and white daredevil yet this year. Years ago my grandpa caught a big northern up at leech on a family vacation. Immediately everyone went to the lodge and bought several red and whites.

Anyone else have a go to lure the whole family has a lifetime supply of.

I have a few of the Red/Whites… last 2 years in Canada, the hot daredevl was the ol’ Black/White. The classics still get it done !

A pair of old ones that have seen some use. Ones my dad had. I’m assuming they’re 40+ yrs old.

I always had an affinity to the brass colored spoons. Maybe that had something to do with fishing tannic stained waters of Aitkin Co during my childhood.

The old r/w daredevil and and the original silver Doctor spoon. To this day, I occasionally tell my dad I got a nice pike on one of those…..his reply is usually a “Yup….I knew it”. The old classics are still great.

In the wintertime, the red/white decoy is another classic that keeps on producing year after year in the spear shack….. Gotta love the old school tools….

Hilarious you’d mention the spearing decoys red and white. A few years ago my grandpa gave me all his spearing stuff out of 9 decoys 8 were red and white. One was orange and white for when he decided to change things up a little.

Safety pin 3/8 oz spinner bait. My uncle made them for my other uncle’s gun and bait shop back in the day. He taught all of my cousins how to make them when we were young (free child labor). Everyone in the family must have about 100 of them each.

Growing up catching hammer handle’s on Platte, it was the ol’ Red and White, Black and White, or Orange and Black Polka dots. And if you really wanted to go outside the box, the red eye spoon was a killer too!

There may be rules to the red and white daredevil. Some time back I realized I didn’t have this classic color pattern on my way to Canada.

Found one that was just a bit different and had the Canadian Maple leaf in red in the middle of the white stripe. This must be karma! 8 years later I removed it from my tackle box as it had never produced. Who knew crazy

Many moons ago (many) I remember trolling on lake Reno with my dad and grandpa for walleyes during a mayfly hatch. Nothing biting so I just tied on a old red and white. Grandpa asked why that? I said at least it feels like I have something on ( what did it matter nothing was biting anyway). About 15 minutes latter had a big old northern on. Every body was pulling red and whites for the rest of the week.

One of the biggest St Croix river walleye I had ever seen was caught by a kid casting a red & white off the break wall by the Stillwater bridge. Easy 28 incher that was fat.
