Here’s my 21 month old Zeb and the last day’s birds of a 4 day South Dakota hunt. My journeyman 10 1/2 year old also had a great trip and he has a lot left in him for his age. They traded off, and I snapped this photo after Zeb’s final shift. It was fun to watch Zeb getter better and better at handling these wild birds. It was very dry and breezy the first three days and the roosters weren’t holding long for points, but we managed a limit the first day and two 3-bird days. On this last day we woke up to an inch of snow and it was game on! Zeb was sticking birds like a pro. Nothing like getting a young dog into wild birds.

Very nice! I’m glad your dogs are doing well.

We did a quick hunt yesterday morning. No birds, but I didn’t expect much. We didn’t have a lot of time, so after getting the kids off to school/daycare, the FW and I took Ripley out on a mediocre WMA. He saw me pack up, so this is the look I got until we hit the road. At one point, he crawled up and laid on my chest. rotflol . “Let’s go!”

    Thanks, Ralph!

I received my December Gun Dog magazine yesterday and there’s a Spin on the cover and feature article inside. If you can’t track one down let me know and I’ll send you mine.
