has anybody had a chance to use the new Strike Master lithium auger 8 inch?

I love the idea of an electric auger, just came back from LOW and 3 guys I was with had the ION, my buddies Ion worked fine but seemed to have alittle trouble getting through the last inch or so of ice, another buddy got his so locked up at the bottom of the hole he had to leave the shaft there after making it a NON- hazard, the 3rd guys seemed to work the same as the my friends did. I’m absolutely not knocking the Ion this was merely an observation and was wondering if anyone could provide an observation regarding the new Strike Master?

Please don’t let this turn into a Ford Chevy debate.

Lights on the underside to illuminate the drill is a neat feature.

did it seem to maintain power all the way through the hole or did it bog down some at the last inch or so

to me it seams like a lot of cash for a electric auger I have run the same mag III for 30 plus years a couple pull ropes a couple plugs and just keeps drilling holes, some days 40 to 50 holes all for 350.00 at the time. how long will you be able to buy batteries with a ever changing world? I will keep my old faithfull!!! good luck with the battery 1

Why not Milwaukee fuel with k drill or a hand auger bit?

Use the drill around the house or maybe you already have one.

Hi BowTech, did it punch cleanly and strong though the bottom of the hole each time?

Strikemaster does not have a great history of quality electric augers.

    Seems a little presumptuous.

Used mine all weekend works great , steady power all the way through , reverse feature might come in handy later in life haven’t found anything i dislike . already had a few ppl admiring it asking what kinda auger it is . So nice not dealing with gas ,pull starting and bubble freezing up in these -15 temps

No lugging or issues finishing the holes off at all. I also re opened 4 holes in my skid house with zero issues.

Also been on the fence. I want to see how the electrics hold up down the road. Have a gas auger that’s been great but love the idea of not messing with gas and oil. Think for the average guy the electric would be a good route.

If you are a ice troller the lithium is awesome it’s very lite and quiet and it zipped through 14” of ice in about 3-5 seconds no gas or oil to spill no messing with the choke to warm it up and pull starting multiple times. Will see how it holds up but I am very pleased so far. Any one wants a gas auger I have 2 10” for sale jester

Thanks bowtecmike thats the kind of input im looking for, another thing I noticed with the Ion is it doesnt spin fast enough to clear the shavings off the shaft when you pull it out of the hole to clear it some when drilling the deeper ice.

I gotnthe Strikmaster out to Red this past weekend, it worked flawlessly.. So good my buddy that was fishing with me wants to get one.

I had issues with other things, but the Strikemaster was flawless.
