The man room

I wasn’t going to post pictures until the room was 100% done. But that won’t be until summer. So, here is my man room. Converted the third stall in my big garage into my man room. 14’x 29′. Still have to acid wash the floor, reface the furnace and put in the sliding screen garage door. Not to mention go get the last 3 ducks I’m waiting for my taxi to finish. Oh, and here is the mobile bar I built so I can roll that out to the camp fire (“oasis” ) area I built last summer.

I was going to do pallets. Grabbed some. Took them apart. Said “to heck with that”. Bought “weathered wall boards” from Home Depot. There is always room for friends (new and old) in the man room. Let the stories flow.

We figured the moose and stag would be huge talking points down in FL. Humidity would kill the mounts though.

And at $25 for 10sqft, you have more pull with the wife than I ever would! bow

No pull. She drove the decorating for this room. She’s the artist. I didn’t want to spend the money. She said “do it”.

I didn’t want to do the pallets, after I tried. I was thinking rough cut my own stuff, but it takes a long time to dry and age.

South Island New Zealand. Kiwi Safaries. Highly recommended. Honestly the Tahr next to the Stag was the best “hunt” of the hunt.

The Stag is on the maternal family Crest and wish to put one on the wall at some point.

The wood on the wall is freakin nice. Mixing up the colors can be such a pain in the ars but well worth it in the end. toast

It was pulling my hair out pain staking. The wife would hold multiple pieces up
To make sure the colors contrasted and flowed. Result is great. But I was not as patient as I could be.

A couple pieces were very nice. Cherry picked to be put in view but not obvious.

For anyone contemplating a man cave, check to see if you have a Restore in your neighborhood. They are fairly new and part of Habitat for Humanity. All their surplus materials from house jobs are going to these stores to be sold on the cheap. I’ve been picking up 1/4″ X 4′ X 4′ oak sheets for $5. It is working great on a project inside my camper. Oak plywood at the big box store would have cost me a fortune.
