The male walleyes are milting

This past week I have been hitting the rive is several places across pools 9 and 10. I have seen water temps in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.

The guys I have been talking to are still catching pre-spawn females walleyes and I have seen some pre-spawn saugers come to my boat as well.

I’m pulling wire(handlining) in areas with gravel bottoms looking for the males that are looking to take care of the eggs of the future..

Temps and the amount of daylight tell me that we have a month of this left before we will put the wire away and resort pull the long rods out !!

Pulling baits like F-7,9 and 11’s in various colors as well as J-7’s are my favorite go to baits…

This year I was telling myself that I really want to try different techniques to land more doubles(one fish on each crank) and one of them works out perfectly !!

Pulled wire yesterday on pool 4 and caught 5 different species of fish had minnows in the boat and once again didn’t use them. Caught fish on both lines but no doubles. What a difference a week made only boated one fish last Saturday. And yes the males are for sure milting and aggressive.
