The last of the garden

I dug the last of the carrots today….about a 5 gallon bucket full after I weeded out the little dinks. Got the tops all bagged up for a trip to the yard waste recycling location in town along with a couple more bags of leaves. I might, might, mow/bag again in lieu of raking the leaves one last time. I have mole issues again and they’re going to get my full attention right along with some feral cats that’ll get a ride to the country in a live trap if they get caught. It never ceases to amaze me how many unwanted critters show up as the temps dip. Regardless, the carrots are in and bagged up and will last well into the winter. The cold ground really sweetens carrots up and when roasted they taste almost like candy.
