I know that b-ball doesn’t get much attention here but I think any fan of sports should check out the documentary on the Bulls and Michael Jordan.
Its hands down the best I’ve ever seen. Jordan was an incredible competitor.
It’s on Netflix.

great docuseries but horribly executed…the jumping around got to me, got lost too many times on which season they were in.
But yeah, great to learn about MJ and was fun watching him growing up…even if he is extremely arrogant! LOL
The best sports doc I have seen to date is Catching Hell the story of Steve Bartman. Incredible story.

Exactly…..they rushed this out 4 months ago and were editing the series as they aired, trying to capitalize on dead air with no sports.
Came out on Netflix overseas and just now in the US…..weird?

That poor bast*#@. I want to see that as well.
I didn’t have a problem with the editing process. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I watched it when it was running on ESPN. Fantastic documentary series. Jordan’s support cast was just amazing.

Don’t mistake arrogance for confidence.
Seems like he just tried to continuously fuel himself with outrageous goals to keep his motivation to be the best.
Some things seem arrogant, until you watch the arrogant SOB accomplish exactly what he set out to do…Then you realize the level of confidence he had in himself, which was more so the willingness to accomplish what others have never done before.
Skipping around got to me a little too, but i eventually found there was an order to it, albeit not abundantly clear.

What program is this on? Would be great to see.

It’s a ESPN production. You probably won’t have to search to hard to find a way to stream it.
Another great sports doc and might even be better than Catching Hell is the Russian Five. Documents how the Red Wings got the Russians Federov and Festitov and others out from behind the Iron Curtain. Fascinating. You can stream it with Amazon Prime right now.

I watched it on Netflix or prime. One or the other I cant remember
This was my favorite part of the doc.
When Reggie Miller doubted Jordan’s skills.
Reggie had 10 points to Jordan’s 4. Reggie gave Jordan a little grief…
Jordon then went 40-2 on Reggie.
Too funny how he could turn on you and make an example of ya!
My rookie year we were playing the Chicago Bulls, and this is Michael Jordan’s third or fourth year in. And we were playing an exhibition game…most veterans do not like to play in exhibition games, they want to get to the real thing. I’m a wide-eyed, energetic rookie and…Michael’s going through the motions. And Chuck Person—who’s on my team—who is a trash-talker as well, is like, “Can you believe Michael Jordan, the guy everyone’s talking about, who’s supposed to be able to walk on water? You’re out here killing him, Reg! … You should be talking to him!” And I was like, “You know what, you’re right!” “Michael…who do you think you are? The great Michael Jordan? That’s right, there’s a new kid on town!” He kind of looks at me and starts shaking his head. So at half I have 10, and he has four points…end of the game, the second half, he ended up with 44 and I ended up with 12. So he outscored me 40-2. And as he’s walking off, he’s like, “Be sure, and be careful, you never talk to Black Jesus like that.”
…
Reggie to this day, calls Jordan Black Jesus
I really enjoyed Last Dance too, that is one of many great stories in there FBRM! Good reminder of all the mental things Jordan did to not only make himself the best, but his teammates too and totally demoralize his opponents. True excellence isn’t achieved with hugs, cuddles and participation trophies.
FBRM, you definitely didn’t want to be on his radar. When the Bulls drafted Tony Kukoc and were gushing over how great he was. He played for Croatia in the Olympics, the first year the USA used pros, the dream team. MJ just smothered the guy, all to make Jerry Krause, Bulls GM,look bad.
It’s tough to think of any athletes in any sport that could singlehandedly carry a team like he did.
The Last Dance was a great watch for sure. Like others mentioned, I wasn’t a fan of the timeline constantly jumping around.
You have to take the entire series with a grain of salt knowing that Jordan had full control over everything that was in the documentary. An unbiased/neutral production would have been better as it would have gone into more detail on some topics Jordan’s first retirement, his gambling problems, etc.
There were several people in the documentary that were livid with how Jordan portrayed them. Most notable, Scottie Pipen and Horrace Grant.
Well I can be the only one. Zero interest in it. I never watched a minute of it. Probably never will. I liked to watch Jordan. Seen him in person a few times.
His shoes form the 1985 exhibition game when he shattered the backboard are up for auction, some say they will fetch 1 million dollars. Still a piece of glass in one of the shoes.

Just think how nice they’d look at your place, Brian!
It was an excellent documentary.
I did find it curious how the documentary didn’t at all mention how the Houston Rockets with Hakeem Olajuwon won back-to-back titles during the Bulls dynasty, one in which MJ played part of the season (the other he played baseball).
But this documentary made me remember all of the great players in the 90’s. It’s crazy that the Knicks with Ewing, Magic with Shaq and Penny, and the Jazz with Malone and Stockton never won a title.
