We boated THEEEE BIGGEST walleye I’ve ever seen this morning, a legit 31″ monster!!!

    What a blast!!

She hit a pink lemonade looking Salmo #9 Freediver on a downrigger. She swam away strong after a minute of rest cradling her alongside the boat.

A fish of a lifetime that we will never forget!

Heck ya! Congrats! Assuming this is Superior and you fish it quite a bit, why are walleye so rare on this great lake? Is it the water being so clear? Is it due to being much deeper? We all know how good Michigan, Erie and even Huron are but how come people do not target eyes there?

I think its the cold water on the north shore that acts as a buffer for walleyes going to far north. Wisconsin’s shore is substantially shallower. I see walleyes at Two Harbors occasionally during the heat of summer and actually have caught a few casting the breakwater.

I believe B man is up on Lake of the Woods trolling the basin there. As for Superior, there is a summer walleye bite on the south shore. Some years can be good but there is sooo much water to cover its kinda daunting. And the numbers are not like Erie or the other Great Lakes. Finally, the folks that fish it hard don’t post reports and are very tight lipped about it wink wink

    Oh, and awesome fish!!!!

Generally speaking, the water temps of the south shore of Lake Superior are shallower and warmer and the walleye fishing is better over there.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

It was a ball to see my buddy break his personal best…..three times….in 18 hours lol

He landed his first 28.5″, then a 29.5″ and the 31″. My biggest ever up here was a 30.5″ in the fall of 2018, so it was a treat to see that fish hit the net.

As of now he’s not planning on a replica, but I’m trying to talk him into one mrgreen

    We’re out on LOTW.
