Still riding his motorcycle to work. Downtown St Paul. Has not missed a day yet! I’m impressed!

I had this up on my FB page, but thought I post here for the IDO crew.

Will be -14 at rush hour tonight. And I fully expect he will ride again tomorrow.

I bought my first new bike on Feb 6 (1972) and rode it from that day on. One night going back to the farm I worked on it was below zero. I thought I was dressed for it. It was only 4 miles for pete’s sake.

My legs were so stiff walking from the shed to the house I didn’t think they would carry me there. Climbed into be with my cloth on and put my jacket on top of the covers.

Said I shouldn’t do that again.

His position must not pay much shock

Cars are like another $1,000 more than a bike…..and they have heat and stuff lol

I did that for a couple years when i first started riding. Not every day but for sure when it was above zero. As long as you keep your chest fingers and toes warm its ok. The fresh snow is kinda sketchy though. I wish i was that young again.

Well he will have a story too tell his kids and grandkids. Us older people walked up hill both ways to school with jam sandwiches. Ya, we took to pieces of bread and jammed them together. Didn’t have anything too put between. I can relate. Times were tough. waytogo

I’m assuming he doesn’t drive a school bus for his job?

A former neighbor of my aunt and uncle owned only a Honda Goldwing. Drove it every day, no matter what the weather. He was in his 60’s when he moved away. Had studded tires for winter and as far as I know he never had an issue.

I ride a bicycle 3 miles into work year round, saves me about $1400. Enough to buy a really nice bike every other year.

The hardest part with my winter bike is selecting the right gear before the internal hub freezes up, relegating it to a single speed. I did not bike yesterday, staying home today.
