I thought wearing an IDO hoodie was a requirement to post photos with fish. Nice fish though. I haven’t pulled one of those through the ice yet this winter, for some reason I’ve been chasing pannies since first ice and haven’t given up on them yet.
I’ve been off of Poygan now for 8 consecutive days. Baits will be the same, but the hot areas can move 1/2 to 1 mile / day. I wanted to move back over to Bago for the rest of the winter, but the ice conditions there aren’t suitable for my truck and my limitations.
So Clown, I have to ask – Was it a one fish wonder, or did you get on them?
We call them yellows, probably a local “western NY – eastern Lake Erie” name. Nice fish likely weighted 4.5 to 5 pounds, some nice fillets for the pan.
I’ve only caught about 5 bigger than that and that’s out of hundreds, so I’d say that’s a real nice fish.
It was a one fish wonder caught on a tip up sporting a med shiner. Funny thing happened, I was by myself and had to take a fish “selfie” and the fish raised it’s tail to click the photo button, damnest thing I ever saw. No filets, she had a strong release back down the hole.
