I’ve heard of way worse. He realized his mistake and turned himself in, not many would do that. Crazy that they reinstated his liscense

How do you not know if you bought a bow license? Wonder if his wife buys all his tags and she screwed up?

Never done that so I have no idea. Seems like he owns his mistakes. Dnr didn’t even fine him, and they love grabbing money so you know it wasn’t to bad.

very weird sequence of events but props to him on doing the right thing. Also very odd that he got his buck tag reinstated so he can go shoot another deer. Seems a little backwards to me.

I also thought it was weird how right after he shot the deer, he started running thru a list of thank yous like he just won a grammy award.

I thought the same thing lol, guess he new he’d be the next you tube sensation rotflol
But why in the world would they give him his tag back.
And I find it funny he thought the dnr was to harsh. Seems more then fair to me

Not the exact situation, but I had something similar happen to me. I was out pheasant hunting with my 2 boys, one over 17 and one under so only the one needed a license. We got stopped by the wardens and they asked for the two of our licenses which we gave them and they checked to make sure we didnt have any lead shot on us. After a few minutes they came back and they asked me do you have your pheasant stamp on a separate card? I said no I bought it all at the same time online through the website. They said well there isnt a pheasant stamp on here. I said I know I selected it, heck, I bought pheasants stamps for like 5 years when I never hunted. They said, yep, we can see that you have had one for every year except this one. I got to thinking wtf happened!?
Then it donned on me, I was helping my son get his license on the website and when he selected pheasant stamp it popped in and then walk in access and the pheasant stamp dropped off. We noticed it and rechecked it. THat is what happened to me but I didnt even notice. It is still my responsibility but you really have to pay attention with technology. I did get a ticket.

Weird deal – not sure how I feel about it. I hope we would all do the same thing if we were in his situation. Assuming he’s being honest about buying a tag the last 15 seasons, probably gave the DNR reason to think that it was an honest mistake. Taking the rack and meat made it sting hard enough to ensure he doesn’t hunt again without double-checking. But re-instating the tag? that’s a head-scratcher. Maybe a reward for turning himself in? I don’t agree with it.

Some years I buy a Sportman’s license when I buy my fishing license and other times I don’t. Could of sworn I bought one last spring and my son asked to bring a 22 when we went to check deer stands a couple weeks ago in case we saw some squirrels. Thought we were all good but I did double-check before we left the house and sure enough, I just had an angling license. So it happens, and it pays to check.

Thought he said they reinstated his tag to use on that deer and they still confiscated it.

Nothing to do with the hunt, but my biggest pet peeve about influencer videos is the “driving set-up.” How this does not qualify as distracted driving is beyond me. And he’s got kids in the car. I know it’s hands-free, but he’s making a point to look into the camera while driving down the road. All for the sake of of his own exposure, creating a video for his “followers” that’s no different than a thousand others out there. I think that’s the biggest crime here.

Does Wisconsin not have rules about tagging your deer afield ? He hauled it to the locker and then went online to register… in Mn, you have to tag the deer with the tag from your license before moving the deer.

That is how I took it as well he said he backdated it to the day he shot the deer.

I agree with you 100% ThunderLund. You see a lot of it on social media these days – people clearly driving with kids in the car while taking selfies and/or talking to the camera. Its one thing if you are risking your own life, but you’re also risking everyone else’s life who is on the road as well as the kids in the back seat. Social media has made everyone want to be youtube famous. You see a lot of kids these days want to be a youtube influencer when they grow up instead of the typical responses like a fireman/policeman/doctor/teacher/pro athlete/etc. Man, its just sad how starved for attention everyone is.

I could not find any tagging requirements online for Wisconsin.
They have to register by 5 pm the next day after the deer is recovered.

In Nebraska you do not have to tag the deer. Your tag is actually an 8.5 x 11” paper you print out. Once a deer is recovered you have to punch the tag, register the deer online etc and the tag has to stay with the deer. Meaning if someone else is transporting the deer other than you the tag has to be with that person.
In Co and you pack the animal out quartered or deboned meat the tag must remain with the meat. You must also leave attached evidence of sex.

Every state will have there own little quirks for tagging requirements and if your like me that hunts multiple states a year it’s best to study them all.

Yeah, I don’t know why it mentions coyotes.

    Some quotes from article:
“He has taken/possessed bear, deer, fish and furbearing animals without licenses,” the filing continued. “Harth has failed to register big game animals and has transported them illegally.”

On Snapchat, Harth posted photos with a gray wolf and a gun “as well as photos of a wolf in a potential snare from a different date,” the filing read.

Messages on Harth’s social media referenced him giving away meat from a bear he shot while unlicensed and receiving praise for multiple deer he killed when not licensed. There also were photos and messages about him fishing without a license.

Perhaps shooting coyotes without any license is illegal? What an idiot.
