It’s not often I’m lucky enough to take someone out fishing that is totally new to the sport of fishing. Kayla Treague has caught fish before but not fish like this!
The folks at Team Catfish Tackle helped put a smile on this anglers face with all the cat fishing gear needed to have an enjoyable evening on the river. From hats and hoodies to line, rods and bait Team Catfish is the one stop shop for all of your cat fishing (and sturgeon fishing) needs.
We anchored up near Chris Winchester the manager of 4 Seasons Sports in Red Wing. His boat was doing well although in a tongue in cheek comment, he claimed his bite stopped when we arrived. Kayla must have the same type of humor as she claimed our fishing picked up when they left! 
4 Seasons Sports along with Everts Fishing Resort both supply our stretch of the Mississippi River with all the Team Catfish products.
What a beautiful evening to be on the water! There were many anglers out trying there hand at luring walleyes and some like Jenny Andress and her friend Johnny looking for white bass and sheepshead. Well, maybe they weren’t looking for sheepshead. smile emoticon
We didn’t have any monster fish. The largest channel cat weighed in at 7.5 pounds but that was 7.5 pounds of fun!
We had crawlers, cut fresh suckers, Sudden Impact and Secret Seven in the boat. We didn’t have a clear winner in baits today.
On a side note if you happen to catch a tagged fish, please report it to the DNR at their tag reporting website. If you’re not harvesting the fish, please leave the tag in the fish so it can be caught and reported again.
There are many Lake and Shovelnose Sturgeon tagged along with White Bass.
With the water temps at 63 degrees we’ll be seeing more and more flatheads on the move with reports coming in from the walleye boys catching them trolling.
