So I took a drive around the chain. Not much activity. Seen a collapsible off the point in the meth hole area. You could see where people drilled by the island by the winter access and across the road in that small shallow bay. Also was a house out in front of the long lake access and 2 guys where also out in that bay.
5″ as far out as i can walk today. 4 spear houses on becker. A warning though: if anyone is going from the winter access to the crappie hole on shoe there was an open area near hammers point that was open for a week when everything else was frozen. Ice probalbe less than 2″ there’

See Glen get out there and fish! Need some sick days? I have more than a months worth-I would feel guilty if I used one to fish (probably why I have so many)

ved 4 blocks from the river access to the chain for 21 years, and still drove north. I’ll hit the chain more when da ice gets thicker.
I was up last night on Horseshoe. There were 2 trucks on the ice and many 4 wheelers and side by sides. Ice varied from 9″ all the way up to 15″ in the spots we checked.
i have seen several full size trucks driving on shoe. none on cedar island
Kyle did you mark them before sunset? Sounds like you have to keep moving, find them and wait-or were you still punching holes after dark? Might go out Sunday so kinda curious. Thanks
took a cruise around the chain. ice must be getting thicker as I seen more vehicles out and about on the ice than parked on shore. very little activity on long on the south end, more activity then normal on browns lake. xmas eve when I drove around there was no activity on cedar island lake..now quite abit of traffic. horseshoe itself had activity scattered all over.
Hey guys, new to this site and really enjoy all the information passed on here. It’s not like other sites where people put each other down and refuse to help each other. I was just wondering Any updates on the chain ice thickness with this extremely warm weather lately? Any cars out on it still? Wanting to take my 9 year old son out to try to get him on some catfish, since it’ll be his first time ever ice fishing so I figure I’d let him get on some good fighting catfish so that he doesn’t end up not liking ice fishing at all.
