Well I made it to 3,000 posts! I wonder how much in fish bucks I’d have by now? lol I’ve had an idea for my 3000th post for a while now, so here goes. For those of you who aren’t using your actual name for your IDO member name, what does your name mean? I chose Sharon M figuring it’s unique enough, and there probably aren’t too many Sharons on here. So tell me, is yours a nickname and what is the story of it? How did you decide to use that rather than your actual name? Or if you’re using your actual name, do you have any nicknames that you just decided not to use?

I have few nicknames that are mostly used by family, Red and Sherman, among a few others. My sister calls me Sherman and even shortens my nickname by calling me Sherm for short. smile

I’ve been called BigWerm since I grew bigger than my Dad which was around the time the movie Friday came out, and it’s stuck ever since. It’s an abbreviation of my long German last name, hence the spelling with an E instead of an O.

I collect older Leinenkugel’s Brewery items and drink the same beer. I’ve been called (Hey Leinie Man) forever so it stuck.

I always use to dispatch fish prior to cleaning them with a small bat that had the name Thumper on it. Several of my friends use to call it the fish Thumper and they started calling me fishThumper. At the time I joined IDO it seemed like as good of a member name as anything else.

My real name is Dan. After lurking several sites, it seemed pretty common to not use a real name. I love catching and eating Perch, and a great day of fishing would result in a Pail of Perch! So, there ya go!

When I was 5 years old, my hockey coach started calling me TO; short for Todd Olson. It caught on, and that’s all anyone called me for the most part. Fast forward 15 years and some arrogant pro football player steals my nickname! What a Jack Wagon!

Anyway, TO for Todd Olson, and the setter because I’ve always had English Setter gun dogs.

When i first joined FTR, I was fishing out of a Lund Explorer 1600.
Explorer was taken already so I just dropped the E, hence Xplorer grin

I didn’t start posting until I bought my Skeeter. You guys and gals can figure it out from there. waytogo

Locally many call me Spider. Got the name working in a factory where you had to punch your time card. There was always a backup crowd to punch out. Me being 6’5″ and 36 inch sleeve length arms, just say I reached over alot of people to get out of the plant and on my way sooner. One little guy looked back 1 day as I was punching out and said “You got arms like a long legged spider” Name stuck. That was 50 years ago.

    Congrats!
My name is a tribute to my first fishing boat – a standard 14 ft Lund from the 70s with the center bench removed. It had a big cooler which had plumbed-in water for a live well. I added a casting deck and bow-mounted trolling motor (to go with the transom mounted one it came with). But it had a big, grumbly 25 horse Evinrude tiller that had a life of its own. It made a lot of noise and shook the whole boat at certain speeds – so I named her the Thunder Lund.

    78 is my birth year.

Newwood is a area I hunt. It’s called that after a fire destroyed the forest in that area. I go by newoodhntr.

I always was in and out of a bobcat skidloader since I was like 12, and my dad had bearcat sleds.
For no apparent reason people always called me bearcat.
My first real construction job was with Shafer contracting pouring concrete freeways and runways, some one who new me but I didnt recognize them yelled out bearcat, and its a dumb name that has always stuck.
Its usually that or a hole toast

Well, the fishbucks were part of the old site, and I think the new site debuted in 2014 or so? Either way, it seems like it’s a lifetime ago.

Real creative one here jester .

“Waldo” was a nickname through school being fairly close to my German last name. Back in the day when I went to sign up for a Gmail account, “waldo9190” came up as one of their “suggested” email names…and I just went with it.
