Just made the call to cancel what was already going to be a “limited” gathering on my Wife’s side that we were going to host. Sucks, but just seems like the right thing to do for us. Will be My wife, two boys, myself, too much food and some really horrible football.

Thats the perfect recipe for power naps. Lousey football and no company = no reason to try and stay awake. waytogo

My wife helps care for her 94 year old father, still living alone in his home of 60 years. And my son’s Mother in law is going through a chemo cycle so it will be just one son’s family at our house for Thanksgiving instead of the usual 18 to 22 people.

Canceled our normal plans with family and friends, just the wife and kids this year . Instead of a huge meal for just us , the girls want king salmon on the grill

Just my own family that lives in this house, per the new state mandate starting Saturday. I tried to find the smallest turkey I could and it’s still too big.

We have canceled Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers this year. My kids worry about the wife and I. So it will be the wife, me, and Ella the 4 legged daughter. Not sure what we are having but the wife always prepares too much regardless if it’s 2 or 20 people. I’m sure we will have leftovers.

On another note I read where there is a shortage of small turkeys. Go figure.

Same as always, all our kids.
My dad died from covid19 on Easter so we don’t have to worry about that. He was the last parent/ in law.
The rule on black Friday is as follows.

    Pajamas all day.
    No shopping, not even online.
    Home movies all day.
    The bar opens at 0600.

    Carry on.

I’m sure that lab sitting next to you would love a good helping of turkey.

My wife is in the high risk group, so we’re staying home alone. She’s a very sociable person, and this is tough for her, but I told her I don’t want my last memory of her to be me watching the ambulance drive away with her.

We are switching it up a little this year for the holidays. We are going we a meal from Fresh Market, which is similar to Lund’s/Byerly’s. Everything is already prepped and the turkey cooked, we just need to heat it.

My wife’s parents DGAF about covid, FIL has already had it and was asymptomatic.
All we did was move the location for turkey day from MN to my place in SD. This is the first thanksgiving I haven’t had to travel in 18 years.
There will be 9 of us around the table on Thursday.

We canceled last night. I am still smoking up a big ham and bagging it. My mom, sister, brother, ect will be doing a drive by and grabbing it from my door stoop. It sucks. But it is what we need to do. We also just cancelled my son’s birthday party. He is not so understanding and thinks if people can pick up ham than they can drop off birthday gifts. Stay healthy everyone.

For those of you staying home with smaller groups, you may want to look into ordering pickup from your favorite local restaurant. A lot of places are doing Thanksgiving Meals To Go this year, and if you want to see them make it out the other side they will need your help.

Perhaps the biggest bummer about it getting canceled is the lack of early ice.

Maybe I’ll break out the Masterbuilt and grill a whole chicken some time next week. I really want to use the rotisserie.

How do you like that masterbuilt? That is the gravity series right? BTW rotisseries are amazing!
I have a kamado and bought a joetisserie for it and its unreal. Wings in a based, I cook brats/hotdogs in a flat basket. All sorts of things. You will love it. I have yet to do a bird on it though.

Yes, I have a gravity series 560. I love the thing. So far mostly used for grilling. It makes the best reverse seared steaks ive ever had.

Only done one longer cook so far. A couple smaller pork loins so nothing major yet.

We have canceled plans as well. Better to be safe than the alternative. Man I wish we had some ice, I have black Friday off and wish there was something to do.

    Good choice! waytogo

FW is bringing the smallest turkey breast she could find at 5 pounds. Turkey, dressing with gravy on The Ella J watching the river go by. It’s going to be a relaxing day that I’m looking forward to.

Brad at the Harbor Bar will be doing his free jerk turkey dinner for the folks that don’t have any place to go again this year.
