Has anyone any info on the status of research for controlling [read eradicating] these insidious destroyers.
I certainly hope for a breakthrough!! We got ’em in Texoma and Red River. I believe to the detriment of MY fishin’

I’ve seen some of the pics from down that way J. Amazingly ugly!

There isn’t any science in my next few statements…like normal.

It seems they’ve peaked here on the upper Mississippi River and the last I’ve heard was the biologist were wondering why. Although most living organisms will boom while they eat up all the food and then level off and the food is less plentiful.

Many folks around here attribute better water quality to the filtering that Zebras do.

I haven’t seen anything around here like the photos you have down that way where shore line rocks are covered with them. But then I seldom venture outside of the upper end of P4 the lower end of P3 and the lower portion of the St Croix Rivers.

Are there sheephead (freshwater drum) in Texoma?

I belive it was FLW Outdoors (walleye) an artical said there is a chemical being tested that kills Zeebs and only Zeebs.

Not infront of me at the moment, maybe someone will chime in. -Mark

Bluegills eat them as well. The Bluegills we catch on the wingdams are loaded with them and regurgitate them into the livewell.

That is what I’d like to do to ’em. Yes, Brian, we have freshwater drum in Texoma. Dad called ’em Gaspergoo. Most of us consider them a trash fish and look upon them with distaste. Nuisances. Recon I might do an attitude adjustment if they eat the “zeebs” is it? Quit usin’ ’em for cut bait ‘n such. Thanks for ans. jaybow

Lake Havasu has lots of quaggas/zebras. The bluegill and shellcrackers seem to be eating a lot of muscles….Check out the size of this one……5 lbs 8 ounces !!!
