Testing a new Lure, Big Cutbows

The ghost brown was released recently from Dynamic Lures and I think it will move quickly into one of my favorite patterns. I don’t fish the rivers in my area much in the Summer, but had to get out and do some testing on some local water. The lure comes with a red/white feather on the back treble. I took that off on one lure and left it on another for comparison purposes. My GF used the red/white feather as well for most of the morning.

Hit the Roaring Fork and the water was ultra clear with some pretty decent flows for this time of year. Little wind but lots of overcast, as some storms came in by early afternoon. Reeling slowly up the current produced multiple good size cutbows, with a really big one breaking off😥😥

Throwing the red/white feather treble didn’t produce any action while we were in the clear water, but when I moved down to dirtier water, that pattern got more action. Landed a really nice size cutbow in front of a bunch of tourists on rafts and got some cheers lol…My GF switched to the V2 rainbow lure and immediately saw a difference. Got two nice cutbows right away! The storm clouds looked pretty bad so we decided to head out after that.

Fun times testing, and it was good to do some comparisons and also see how the feathers were maybe a bit too flagrant for clear water applications. Otherwise, I think just a regular treble is going to be nuts year around. More testing to come though as time goes on…Pictures of the morning and video link below too if you’re interested! Got a nice picture below of the roaring fork river flowing into the Colorado river. Really get to see the big difference in water clarity!
