Back in the Saddle Again!

After putting my father through the wringer and having him drive all over Arizona and Texas in pursuit of reloading powder, my (his) efforts have finally paid off. Kind of.

He managed to score 6 pounds of 8028XBR and a few pounds of 3031, along with a couple of pounds of odds/sods that I’ve wanted to test.

Is it my much-mourned, long, lost Varget? No. But I was feeling like it’s do/die time with the p-dog season coming up soon, so we’re up against a wall here.

So last night my workshop was lit up, heated up, and the new tumbler and both presses were going full tilt.

I’ve got to tell you, it’ll be great to be back up to reloading speed again. For the last 10 months, because of the bullet, primer, and powder shortage everything has been mothballed and I’ve only loaded up a few short test runs. So the only thing I’ve done is prepped most of the brass.

Back in the saddle again. I’ve got about 1000 more rounds to load and then we’ll be all set.

I hate to say it, but these massive shortages are getting worse every time. The “Columbine Panic” lasted about 6 months. “Obama Panic” of 2008 lasted about 9 months. The “Newtown Panic” has lasted a year and still counting.
