What would be a good distance to sight in a 223 that would also be close at 100 yards? Also……how much will the round drop at 200 yards?

Are you restricted on distance for your sight-in? I would sight it in for a min of 100yrds if not 200yrds.

Here is a link to a ballistic calculator. Just enter you bullet info and it will give you your estimated drops.

Have a 100 yard range. With a new Rock River AR type gun, just trying to save ammo so probably start at 40-50 yards so the round is on the paper and then move back. Just iron sights now so will probably sight it in as about an inch high at 100 yards for now.

With a new rifle I will start at 25 yards and get my zero, then move to 100 yards. If I did it right I should only have to change my elevation not considering any wind adjustments.

With iron sights you may as well zero at 50 and forget it. At 100 you’re shooting at the target in general, not a spot on the target.

You have an AR and you want to save ammo. Good one.

Well said I know my AR doesn’t know what save ammunition is or ever heard of that.

If you wantto save on ammo. Buy a >22lr upper or conversion for it.

An even better solution would be to give me the AR. I’ll make sure no ammo is wasted and the OP won’t be tempted to shoot it too much if he doesn’t have it.

    You know it makes sense.
