I guess everyone that reloads will eventually experience a day of triump and disaster. Started with barnes’ recomendation of .050 jump off the land and 70.5 max on magpro. Working up, it just kept getting better. At 70.5gn, 100yrds was 1 tattered hole for 4 shots. Ran back to the bench and loaded 4 more and shot 200yrds pictured group. Started to clean up and noticed the cracks in everything I shot 70.0 and up. All the brass were once fired, so its a pressure issue. Primers didn’t bulge or pop. Either crappy brass or over pressured. Just wish this would have been as good as it looked.

What is the life expectancy for brass in a wsm? I mainly reload 223 and 250’s and some larger calibers but haven’t shot enough rounds on the larger calibers to give any input.

Yowzer. No wonder there’s a powder shortage on at >70g+ per shot. Gentlemen, we have found the cause of our global powder shortage: Randy.

It’s a bummer, but what can you do? What else have you tried for powder in that rifle? Might be similar results at a lower pressure out there.

Probably could try some high-end brass as well. Norma, etc, and see if that can handle the heat.

Grouse, its not ME – I swear. My BIL Paul is almost 90gn in his 7mm RUM

I have a 130gr / 4831sc load that is pretty good. I tried a couple other powders including the H4831sc with the 140gr TSX that gave me reasonable results. I’m sure if I continue to tinker, I’ll get something dialed in. But, with the pattern I’m getting with the magro/TSX140, I want to get that figured out. I’m going to anneal all my winchester brass and I just ordered a 25pack of Norma brass to try. I also need to get this shot over the chrony to see where I’m really at. I do know that the Magpro has a distinct “crack” like Varget when fired.

Are you full length resizing or just necking sizing? Is this brass been fired in your gun before? Just wondering.

The original factory loads were used in this gun for break in. Then full sizing, cleaned, trimmed, deburred the neck, deburred the primer holes, uniformed the pockets, then loaded. Only thing I didn’t do was anneal the brass
