I do not understand what goes through peoples heads some times. I guess not much! I had some of the same things happen to me many times on Wissota this year. Most of the time it happens when I am pitching jigs to off shore structure. I do not understand why people think they need to troll within casting distance. I guess I was raised a little different than they were!

Here is something to think about here before people go off on a tangent. Now I am not sure if this is the case here, but this has happened to me a lot this year right or wrong there are sometimes two sides to the story.

I trolled allot this year, I will make a pass and turn around to come back and have a boat where I just been thru minutes before, I am sorry, but you do not get much leeway in this case, I will troll right past you, call me what you want but that is the way I see it…Sorry and on a second note I have had a lot of boats cut off are trolling pass all summer long. they know we are trolling the bar, been there 4 days, a week all summer.

Well, I didn’t mean to start something. Was more or less trying to get this person to at least give a little thought. I generally don’t waste too much of my energy getting very worked up on these things. Don’t get me wrong I don’t appreciate it. It was just in this case, it was really close and seemed really non shalant; like I see you there, I don’t care, this is where I am going to fish so watch out for my slip-bobber.

Kevin, no, not trolling, parking right where I was pitching. You fish 4 days a week? I thought you were complaining at the beginning of the year that you wouldn’t get too fish too much this year Good for you

Now lets quit typing and go fishing…

I do see your point Kevin, but if you are 400 yards a way and I pull up to the point of some sructure and do not have a clue what you are up to, I would not be happy when you troll on top of my cast. I also started trolling this year, and went around a lot of people without hesitation. At least I pay attetion to which direction they are casting and take the proper side to pass on. Let’s not take this to far, but we should all try to be as courteous as possible while we are on the water.

. no rap I think you would agree 8 days a week might not be to much… back to the point I was just passing on other thoughts about things to think about on the water you brought up a good point I just expanded on it a little, maybe just a little reminder to us fisherman, like you have stated. “No animals were harmed in this test”

All I can say is there is alot of water above and below Wissota, if you enjoy searching out your own new spots that seem virtually untouched most of the year. The guys that fish like that wont bother finding the out of the way spots that are virtually untapped up and down the Chippewa River……

We pretty much all know each others programs during league this year. This is how I approach another boat.I allready know the break & depth the other boat is fishing I am approaching. If I see they are fishing the deep edge of the break I am going to move to the inside & trying to avoid getting too shallow as to get hung up on the rock & cribs which lay along the break.Usually I can react to anothers boat moving up shallower on the break when im 100′ or farther away, then I will go deep. But when I’m less than 100’away pulling multiple lines & the other boat suddenly powers up quickly to move up shallower on the break, which doesnt give me much room to go deeper on the outside. Now I am going to get pushed into 5’of rocks & have a chance of getting multiple rods hung up. You might expect to get passed closely! This would make both parties involved uncomfortable.I think it would be more courteous to let the troller get by you without issues & everyone continues without insidence. Now if your anchored up & someone moves into the what I consider 50’casting (direction)! You might also expect an exchange of words.Lets just remember we are all just out to enjoy a night on the pond without issues! If we all just respect each others methods or areas & not try to snuff the other angler just because you might be fishing a league & feeling a bit competitive. This was a learning experience for hopefully everyone, including myself & kids being our first year in the Wissota fishing league. Not fishing it much in the last 5+ years & noting the improved fishery. It was a pleasure to meet a bunch of you guys & hope to see you all again on the home pond to swap stories, tactics & techniques.I am doubtfull of fishing league next year as my job generally doesnt allow me to commit. Until we meet again. Best of luck fishing all. WHITE TIP

Very well said White Tip. We are all out there to have fun and enjoy the time we can spend on the water. I hope you are able to fish the league again next year!!

Special thanks to the Stratus that came and parked right on the break I was casting to, 15-20 ft away.

I observed a boat do this to another boat a few years back.
The first boat chatted a bit, pretended to be courteous, packed up their stuff, pulled anchor, drifted over to the “rude” boat and dumped about a dozen empty beverage cans, sandwhich wrappers, garbage, etc in the “rude” boat and took off!

I was both speachless and giggled at the sight!

Most times though, if you inform the “rude” boat of what they did, they will move.

Know what’s weird? Fish the soft water and everyone gets possessive. Let the same water ice up and half the town gathers ’round to fish the same area! I’ve never understood this and it might be one reason I still have yet to warm up to ice fishing. I like peacefullness and serenity. I can usually find that in a boat and find my fish too. But get a few inches of ice and BBBBBRRRWWWEEERRR, WERRRR, ERRRRRR……bb-bbb-b-bbbb-bb-bb (repeat RPM’s) all the day long……..right next to your shelter! It’s not that I’m anti-social….I’m usually in the outdoors to “get away from it all” so palling up with a bunch of townies just doesn’t appeal to me…….. so I rarely go. But then why…oh why…… does the ice melt away and boats once again return to attitudes of congestive behavior? I’ve never gotten into an exchange because I’ve always had the confidence to go somewhere else. If you’re that one dimensional, have at it…… it’s not going to ruin my day. Most of the time, they don’t last long in the spot they “stole” anyway. Typically, it seems that I’ve already distrubed the area enough that unless a frenzy is taking place, the “hot moment” is already gone. The best is when you move somewhere, just in decent site and start pullin’ fish like they’re jumpin’ in by themselves! Talk about “grumpy ol’ men”. And yet, come winter, those same ol’ grumpy guys will offer to have you drill a hole or few over by them if your fishing appears a little slow.

I regress to the wisdom of a t-shirt….. shut up and fish.

Actually ice fishing is even better if you enjoy serenity now! Most guys if they cant drive there pick em up trucks to there heated shacks on the ice they wont be fishing- thus community spots. I have found if you put a little work into getting back into a spot 99% of the guys ice fishing wont bother even if you give them a map. Once they realize that it will take effort to get in to fish its game over, so really the secert is to keep your hard to get to area’s away from that other 1% that will work for it. Either way the rewards out shine the work almost every time with a little commeon sense, fishing knowledge, and some research- heck more then half the fun is finding the spot and catching is just the icing on the cake….IMHO

I’ve heard that a .357 mag handgun should NOT shoot .357 SIG because it’s a hotter load and could damage the gun. However, if you have a handgun DESIGNED for .357 SIG, is it perfectly safe to shoot regular .357’s through it? The other factor in this consideration is that it’s a Glock 31, Gen 4, auto loader. Will a regular .357 cycle properly?

357 Sig isn’t interchangeable with 357 mag and vice versa. 357 Sig is a rimless cartridge and the 357 mag is a rimmed cartridge. Sig’s are made to run in autoloaders.

The Sig has a tapered case and the magnum is a straight walled cartridge.

I shoot 38 Specials through my 357 mag all the time. (cheaper and less recoil)
