Might want to check and make sure none of the filters/screens or lines are clogged. Make sure your fresh water pick up is clear too. Happens a lot to people fishing in or near weeds. I would check that first then start taking things apart.

Sounds like a Mayfair pump.If the housing is yellow & wings are black you should be able to give it a twist counterclockwise only about a inch & it should lift out.Once its out turn on pump & check to make sure impeller is still on the bottom & is rotating.Which it sounds as you said works.Sounds to me like you might have a cable which came disconnected that opens & closes water inlet not allowing water in.
October 27, 2008 at 2:46 am #719392i have tried to spin it counter clockwise, it moves about 1/16 of a inch. it must be gummed up with sand or weeds. i will give it another try. thanks for the advice………..tom fellegy
October 27, 2008 at 8:55 am #719411I have had the same problem and have found that if I turn the fill “on” with the boat in reverse it corrects the problem. It seems the pump needs to be primed especially if the boat has been out of the water for a long period of time.
toothycrittersPosts: 253October 27, 2008 at 12:04 pm #719431if it is a Mayfair there will be a lock tab on the side. You pull that up then twist off the motor, counterclockwise.
October 27, 2008 at 1:39 pm #719448If the motor is running but it is not pumpintg then you may have spun the impeller on the shaft. The shaft has a flat spot and the impeller is just plastic and pushes on so if any crud gets in then the impeller will just round out its hole. All you have to do is pop the impeller off and push a new one on. I tend to have this problem on my Explorer so we carry a couple extra impellers at all times.
October 27, 2008 at 4:37 pm #719485There is a little black plastic lever/lock on the side, you need to push that down so you can turn the pump counter clockwise and pull it out.
Mine will vapor lock once in a while on the water, I keep the pump running, unlock the pump, it will start pulling water again, lock the pump down and we’re good to go.
One thing to note, if you pull the pump out, don’t forget to replace it BEFORE you go on the water again…

October 28, 2008 at 3:45 am #719692thanks for the help. i will try again now that i know that the pump does unscrew.
April 10, 2013 at 2:52 pm #210339Still none available. That is why I have not scheduled a shoot yet. I’m getting dangerously low on pistol ammo.
The range always has it so I better get this ballgame going.April 10, 2013 at 2:55 pm #129949Fleet Farm up here pretty much has no pistol ammo. I am hesitant to shoot, now, because I don’t want to use up the couple hundred rounds I have on hand.
April 10, 2013 at 3:37 pm #129950Same here. On the reloading front brass check, bullets check, powder check, primers nope. Will have to stick to the muzzle loader for my shooting fun this summer.

johneePosts: 731April 10, 2013 at 4:47 pm #129951In the interest of helping others out, I have several hundred Winchester small pistol primers that I no longer have a use for. I believe I have 4-500, but I will need to verify this for sure. The have been stored properly and are probably 3-5 years old.
Obviously, this will have to be a local sale (I’m near St. Paul) and be picked up in person. It is cost prohibitive to ship small numbers of primers due to the flat rate HazMat fee imposed by the carriers.
I also have .38 special and I believe I have some 357 magnum brass as well. I also have a 100 round plastic ammo box to throw into the deal.
I will get exact counts and prices tonight.
If anyone would like to buy the above items at non-price-gouging rates, please reply or PM.

johneePosts: 731April 10, 2013 at 5:12 pm #129954As an add-on, I did FINALLY manage to find some small rifle primers, but holy moses it wasn’t easy and it certainly wasn’t sitting on the shelf at Cabelas. I got 2000 of them, not the brand I usually use, but beggers/chooses, etc.
Large rifle primers are a little easier to find, at least so far I’ve managed to get them when I need them.
Overall, I haven’t heard of anyone who is saying that supplies are back to normal in their area. Either for reloading components or for finished ammo.

I, too, have .38 Special and .357 Magnum brass collecting dust (figuratively) in my basement. Anyone who wants it, lemme know. We can work out a deal.April 10, 2013 at 7:00 pm #129960Didn’t I see 4 Seasons in Redwing got a 100 boxes of 9mm a week or so ago?
April 10, 2013 at 7:06 pm #129961My source says his company is putting out 7 million .22 lr a day in one factory and 8 million a day in another. That’s 15 million a day, from 1 company. How is that stuff not making it to the shelves?

Yes but I’m not paying $21 a box for 9mm when it should be half that. Not to mention its in Red Wing. Nothing personal against 4 Seasons or Chris Winchester.
April 10, 2013 at 9:11 pm #129963It will be coming back here shortly. Ar-15 s are already starting to pile up. Scheels in eau claire had about ten of them and the the guy said there was more in back. Market should be flooded with ar’s in a month or two. I bet ammo is back to norm by middle of summer.

We were (Are) demo/remodiling federal cartrige. Both locations in anoka. The original one and the new building they have. I havent followed these threads that colse so it may have been posted already but from what I was told all ammo manufactures that deal with the govermant have to fullfill the govements orders before putting out to the public. The goverment has place high orders of ammo. I have herd that from 2 sources now. I would guess in the coming months we’ll see some ammo. Last i herd federal was 450 million behind in production running 24/7paulzPosts: 39April 11, 2013 at 3:11 am #129969Hi Guys, I just saw this post and thought I would chime in. We got a shipment of 9, 40 and 45 ammo in today. We are limiting sales to 2 boxes per person to make sure everyone who would like some can get some.
We also got several pounds of Varget and 4350 powder as well as some various primers. No small rifle though.
Kooty – I appreciate your concerns about the $21 a box 9mm ammo and truly wish it was not so. The 9mm Ammo I have is Blazer brass and has not been anywhere near $11 for a long time. I believe under normal conditions it was $15-$16. I promise you we are not gouging our prices. When I find some I can buy I do so as long as the price is somewhat reasonable because I get sick of not being able to provide our customers with ammo. I truly am making less at $21 per box than I did 6 months ago at $15.99.

This is an internet myth that was debunked months ago. Government agencies and the military do not run down their supplies of ammo and then place massive orders that choke the system. Government contractors deliver ammo on a schedule base on their contracts and the production/delivery schedule is known months or years in advance.
The internet urban legend was based on a General Service Administration request for bids. The number that sent the tinfoil lined hat guys off the deep end did NOT represent “an order”. It was the maximum number of rounds that could be purchased under the contract price/terms over a period of 3-5 years. Also, there is nothing stating that this contract will be awarded to a single company, it could be (and often is) that the contract will be awarded to multiple companies or all bidders who will agree to the final contract price/spec.
The ammo shortage is due to one thing: Hording.
Most of the problem is NOT the guys that shoot a lot, it’s a bunch of idiots that hardly shoot at all, but since they read on the internet that Obama is banning guns tomorrow, they rushed out and bought 1,000 or 5,000 rounds. Which is more ammo than they have shot in their lifetime and more than they will ever use.
I totally agree with the reatilers who are limiting purchases to stop horders.

My source that said basically the same thing is a government employee that works at Federal.
But it doesn’t really matter since I’ve sold all my guns for a huge profit and bought paint ball guns.
April 12, 2013 at 2:57 am #129991I believe it was Home Land Security that put in the big order for ammo and not a myth.
The 4350, is this H4350 and in 8 lb jugs?
April 12, 2013 at 2:36 pm #130002Ive got some 9mm I could part with if guys are looking to do some trading. I dont hardly shoot it anymore. Aprox 500 rounds american eagle fmj 115gr.
Id be interested in 22 250 ammo or anything to do with waterfowl hunting/guns.
Admins please delete if this is out of line, ive got this ammo that I dont use.
April 12, 2013 at 3:50 pm #130004If you were close I would buy some from you for the right price. Rochester is too far to deal with it for me but thanks a lot for bringing it up. Maybe someone else will take you up on the offer.
April 16, 2013 at 12:28 pm #130036Dang it…wish I had seen this Friday…I was in Rochester for the St Jude Benefit Saturday night.

Homeland Security was just one of the agencies named on General Services Administration request for bids. It was NOT “an order” and the number of rounds stated was a maximum that could be purchased and NOT a guarantee of what would be bought.
None of this is near-term, BTW. I believe the soonest possible delivery on this contract would be in 2014. You can google this and look at the actual request if you want some scintilating bedtime reading.
This is all SOP in the world of government procurement. What really set the Tinfoil Hat & Black Helicopter crew off was the fact that the National Oceananic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) was also named on the bid request. The conspiracy whack-jobs took the fact that the weather guys are gunning up as proof that the Government is about to declare war on its citizens.
Then somebody spoiled their party by pointing out that the US Fish and Wildlife Service is part of NOAA. Not that facts ever present a REAL barrier for the conspiracy whackos…

April 16, 2013 at 4:05 pm #130042Gander in Woodbury is having a grand opening this weekend. They just told me they would have a lot of ammo available for this occasion. Said it would probably become available starting Thu morning but Fri morning for sure. Then over the weekend. Makes sense. Would be stupid to have a grand opening at a specialty gun store and not have ammo.
April 16, 2013 at 5:11 pm #130048Some of these same folks have published articles about how the President now asks his key staff members if they would fire upon American citizens during the interview process. As much as I’m a conservative and anti-the current administration, I’m also realistic.
johneePosts: 731April 16, 2013 at 6:01 pm #130050Overall, the Federal government is buying less ammo than they were buying 2 years ago. Given current contracts and requests for bids, even if the government bought the maximum allotments under the contracts, ammo purchases overall will have declined over 25% from the high in 2005/06.
The bottom line is that the problem is NOT the Federal government buying up all the ammo.
The problem is a bunch of idiots who don’t shoot very much, but have gone out and bought up all the ammo supply “just in case”. And the less ammo they could get, the more paranoid they got and the more they bought.
It’s like I wanted to tell that idiot at Gander who asked me if .45 Long Colt was the same as .45 ACP: Hey jack[censored], get off our side, would you? If you don’t know enough about your guns to know what ammo to feed them, than you sure as hell don’t need to be buying 1000 rounds of it.
