Sonic case cleaners?

Anyone out there using a sonic case cleaner to clean brass for reloading?

I’m getting a tired of the time-consuming process of tumbling cases . I don’t have a very large tumbler. I can only do about 30-40 .223 cases, but it’s one of those things where I’ve never been able to justify the cost and storage space for a big tumbler that would make the job more efficient.

And then, of course, you still have to get all the polishing media out of the cases. Then clean the primer pockets, then blow the dust and grit away. . .

Anybody using a sonic cleaner? I see Cabela’s has the Hornaday on sale and so is the much larger Lyman with the heating element to (supposedly) make the process faster.

    Pros, cons, wish I’d knowns?

My brother just picked one up this weekend. I hope I can report on it soon. He said he has a ‘mess’ of brass to clean and load…..
Personally, I think I should have bought one as well….

I’ll be interested in how he likes it, FF.

I’ve been going back and forth on either the sonic or just getting a bigger tumbler. In theory, the sonic has the advantage of one-shot cleaning including the primer pockets AND no “cleaning the cleaned cases” step to get all the media out of the cases, dust them, etc.

But what I don’t want is another piece of equipment that kinda sorta works ok sometimes sitting around in my shop.

    This just in
Talked with my brother today and he said his sonic cleaner worked great, and was relatively pleased overall with how fast it worked.

We both agreed that punching out the primers first(using a de-capper die) helps even more as this allowed for the solution to flow through the brass and also helped clean the primer pockets.

He’d sent me a text picture but wasn’t of any quality to post… All I can really say he is very pleased, and told me I should trade up! (not likely this year)
