nova pump question

I own a nova pump. When I fire, the breech kicks open and sometimes shucks a shell like a semi auto. Is this normal? I shoot 3 in mags and turkey loads.

I’ve owned the Nova and now the SuperNova. I’ve never had that happen.

Are you possible pulling back on the action in an attempt to keep it tight to your shoulder when you shoot?

Yes, that’s what I was thinking too. Are you using the pump hand to press the gun into your shoulder and therefore the pump is releasing as soon as it’s fired and the empty is being pushed backward?

Otherwise, I’d suspect that something isn’t engaging properly or is worn.

I also have a SuperNova Max 4 camop and have never had this problem. I am selling mine if anyone is interested as well.

I agree, you must be pulling on the forearm. Have you shimmed the gun at all? You could add the shims to the gun so it pulls more from your trigger hand.

I have shot 2 3/4,3, 3 1/2″ shells with no problems. Gun is great, but this one just doesn’t fit me well and I keep missing on moving targets. This gun just might not fit you very well. Might be too bulky for you to use.
