I’m going to an auction next week back home. It has two used Glock 23’s in 40 caliber listed. I know the former owner shot a lot, so I can only assume they are both “used”.

I’ve done some research on gunbroker and it looks to me like $350.00 would be my top bid. Maybe even $325.00. Do you guys have any opinions?

I dont know about cost but that’s my carry gun and has been for several years. Love it.

I’m getting one, just a matter of when.

They are just small enough to carry a little easier but shoot like a full sized. Big caliber. Decent round capacity and you can reach out and touch at good distances. Mine has been shot quite a lot and been flawless.

Aside from the ugliness factor, I just think they are uncomfortable to shoot. Fine guns if they work in your hands, but for me, I don’t find them ergonomic.

The Glock 23 (40 caliber) will be, in all probability, the next addition to my copious handgun arsenal!

It probably won’t matter if the auction prices go anywhere near the silly-money prices I’ve seen. For a gun with a potential high round count, I think you’re right to say no mas at $325. Don’t get suckered into overpaying. As you’ve seen online, this gun is about as rare as dirt.

And I’d be shocked if you managed to get one for that price. Honestly, I can’t recall seeing an auction in the last 10 years where firearms did NOT go for vastly more than the average online price including transfer fees. It’s just crazy.

Let us know how you do.

My buddy, who is a gun nut much like a few of you guys here, and I were talking this AM. We both agreed most likely this line up of guns will draw a pretty good crowd and in turn will likely turn into a feeding frenzy. I’m amazed the prices I see most handguns selling for during online auctions.

There is a Ruger 77 in 17 cal I’d also like to take home if priced right. He also has a Wilson Scattergun that I’d like to get for home defense. An 11-87 in 20 gauge and a few other odds and ends.

But, like you said, most likely this stuff will go closer to retail than cheap. And I’m CHEAP.

Even retail prices would be cheap compared to what I’ve seen at the last few auctions that I’ve been to. 1980s beat up Marlin .30-30 for $485. Uhhh, say what? 1970s vintage Remmmy 870 for over $400. What the. . .

Once in a while you get one under the radar where it’s rare enough that most people don’t know what it it or the relative rarity factor.

The downside is that I have limited storage space and even more limited spousal patience for esoteric aquistions.

We all don’t have to be man pretty with ours guns Ryan. I trusted my life to a Glock 23 for 8 years. I will try to preach Glock to anyone who will listen. I think the $350 mark is right about on. The only thing I don’t like about some auctions is the buyers premium. Does this auction have one? The gun may be worth $350 but if you have to add 2 or 3 percent it may be a loosing deal.

The auction doesn’t list anything about that, but I can’t believe there isn’t one.

Online auctions are the worst for it. If it is a live auction there might not be a bp if cash is paid.

I would agree with your bidding price, unless of course its something you really want to go home with. Do I think it will sell for $325? Most likely not. They are like Jeep Wranglers, the dang things never seem to lose value. I picked up a used Glock 27 (subcompact .40 for carry) for $425 with a holster, and that was a great deal.
