OK, I already know that CVA is not the caddy of black powder rifles from what i read on previous posts. Anyways, I came across a guy who wants to do a trade on some fishing stuff of mine. Dollar wise, I’m looking at about $100 value.

Its a few years old and at face value looks pretty clean. I’m not a black powder guy yet, so what should I be looking at and how to tell if its beat to crap? -CVA Nickel Optima Magnum

I have a cva kodiak and used it for years and it never let me down. The biggest thing I would look at is how clean it is. Take the breach plug out and look at it and look down the barrel and see what it looks like. That will tell you how well and how often he cleaned it. There pretty simple but need to be cleaned regularly
