Just got a new leather holster from UPS today.
Any tips/tricks to breaking it in other than stuffing the gun in it and leaving it there?

    Thanks

Shouldn’t be much for break in. The most important thing is to practice holstering and unholstering. Repetition is needed so when your in a confrontation that movement will be second nature.

I haven’t done this but I know guys that have use the same treatment for leather baseball gloves on her holsters and then very happy I would just make sure it doesn’t have any salt content or anything acidic

Deer tracker got it right. You aren’t breaking in a baseball glove. It’s designed to hold the weapon securely and most are designed with a weapon retention design to keep the weapon in the holster to avoid accidental falling out, bad guys grabbing it from you, etc. Practice drawing/re-holstering to get yourself better acclimated to the holster. The more you wear/use it, you won’t notice the stiffness after long. Also, remember it’s leather. If you wanted something that was softer/more plyable, nylon gear would have foot the bill better for you.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Being new it is REALLY tight, I thought I was going to rip out my belt loops trying to get the pistol out.
I am sure it is just going to take time to break it in. I read a couple reviews and people said doing gun in out a couple times a day will help train the leather.
The holster is specific for the weapon so it isn’t a fit issue…just new. I will work the gun in and out a few times a day.

On a bright note it sits nice and high and it was really comfortable.

Another thought. Does this holster have a retention adjustment? If so you could try loosening the retention a little, but you should be able to shake the holster upside down and not have it come out.

Wearing it will take care of everything. It needs to get warm from your body and bend and mold to your shape.

It is a Beretta pancake holster specific for the 92A1 and there aren’t any adjustments.

Before I went to bed last night I holstered and unholstered a few times and it was already getting better just having the pistol in it for a few hours last night.

I have several pancake holsters. Wearing one right now. They all break in like shoes. Just need to wear them. Doesnt take long either. If you can wear for a full day of up and down, walking and sitting, your 90% there.
