You should take a look at the newer line of Shimanos.

I would strongly suggest looking at a shimano stradic. I own three of them and they always perform well. I also fish with the Shimano Sustain- a little pricey but my definite go to reel. I would say stick a 2500 stradic or sustain on the medium heavy and a 1000 on the UL, you won’t be disappointed

If price is an issue the new Symetre and Sahara both come in the 1000 size for your UL.

No Doubt the Shimanos and other models mentioned have been outstanding products.I was an exclusive Shimano owner myself till the white Stradics and original Stradic Mgs were discontinued.

Specifically, since you mentioned Legend Elites,I fish with the same rods and I would suggest you at least put on your rod to check on the balance with the Pflueger Supreme mgx.

The 25 would be great for the smaller reel and the 30mgx for the other. They weigh in at 6.9 and 7.2 oz if I rember correctly, and the line capacity is 120 yds of 4# on the 25. 160 yds of 6# for the 30mgx.They also offer a 35 and 40 mgx.

The price point is very fair in my opinion at $99 as compared to the Symetre,Stradic & Stradic MG pricing.Always good to have options and you are more than welcome to give one a trial to see what you think before deciding for yourself.

    Good luck!

Yep – what Dean said…… Do yourself a favor and crank on a few Pflueger’s at your favorite sporting good store or better yep stop by and see Dean for a few cast and retrieves. My experience has been nothing but good… (and I used to be die-hard Shimano, for whatever it’s worth)

If in fact you are looking for open water reels ,Dean hit it right on the head with the Fluegers Supreme reel.

I did the try it before ya buy it deal with him and YES I bought it . I like it so much I now have purchased 3 of them from him and absolutly love them ,light weight and VERY smooth indeed .

Even at $99.99 a pop it was a great investment for my walleye fishing, I am no expert fisherman ,but I have tried ALOT of reels and I have finally found my last reel.

    Thanks again Dean

Give one a try ,you wont be sorry

I have be really taken by the Pfleugers as well… bought two Supremes from Everts, (Thanks Deano!).. I have run Shimano, Fin Nor, Quantum and St Croix (Diawa) for years… The really nice thing about the Supreme is the light weight to balance the Elite Rods. I bought a couple Pfleuger Presidents (50$) for guiding and they are very close to being as smooth as the top of the line reels…really nice!

I love my Pfluger President Micro spinning reels which are seated on St. Croix Legend ice rods

They have smooth drags and have stood up to some large fish

May be too late, but I have fished the Gander Mountain guide series for three years and like them very much. I tried to buy a Pflueger but they were sold out and the guy told me I could buy the GM model as Pflueger makes them for GM anyway and you can save yourself $20- it was wise advice. I have the 10 ball bearing model.

Not too late at all. I picked up a Pflueger for my 2 legends, and now found my self looking for reels for 3 premiers premiers I picked up as back ups/combos for other people.
