Did anybody catch the story on Rock Center the other night about Remingtons going off, without a trigger pull and the safety on ? Wouldn’t this have been very easy for NBC to test ? Get the models accused and have the “expert” witness, who testified in many trials that they do this and have him SHOW them/us ? That stroy sure looked like a witch hunt on Remington…. nothing but talk and no proof. I particularly liked the story of the guy in jail, for shooting his wife, when cleaning the gun it went off by itself…. who cleans a loaded gun ??? (answer, a murderer) Might have to re-think watching NBC stories anymore…..

Also if there was a real problem ther would be a safety recall on what ever gun had the malfuction.

apparently with guns, in the US…it is strictly self imposed…. no govt action, which makes it even more far fetched that Remington would ignore…

I watched an episode on netflix called CNBC Originals: Remington Under Fire. Not sure if its the same one but it had to do with remingtons firing without pulling the trigger. To me it was rather convincing and I have actually had this happen to me. Once or twice my Remington 700 has actually gone off with just closing the bolt believe it or not. This goes to show why you always treat a gun as it is a loaded gun and keep it pointed in a safe direction. In this episode they actually talk to the inventor of the remington trigger and even he says it always had a flaw but they would never do anything about it because of how much it would cost to put in a trigger into every remington 700 made. Literally millions. Just my.02 cents. Didnt mean to stir the pot as i will still shoot a remington any day of the week and even buy more.

    This is an interesting read.

    NBC Witch Hunt

Glad no one was hurt during the accidental firings. JC, has the trigger on your 700 ever been modified? What did you do to resolve the issue? That would scare the “stuff” out of me.

Nice to see Remington engaging this and not sitting idly by. I have a Remington 870, 740, 7400, 700, and 582. No issues at all regarding the safety, the trigger mechanism, or the reliability of those parts. The 740 is older than I am….. and in better shape!
