I’ve got a buddy looking at a used Beretta 92 in 9mm. It’s a few years old. What’s a fair price?

What has it been used for and how many rounds (approx) have gone through it?

December 11, 2011 at 5:54 pm #116638I had one issued at the police dept. when I was there. It was an ok gun. Don’t have a price used for u though.
johneePosts: 731December 12, 2011 at 1:50 am #116657I believe they run around $700 new, so that’s somewhere to start.
The problem is that without knowing the history of the gun, I can’t really pinpoint what a good used price. They can go anywhere from $350 to $600+, but condition and use history drive everything. A good example with little use could be a deal even at $600. An ex-millitary/law enforcement training gun with tens of thousands of rounds run through it woudl be worth about half that. Everything depends.

December 12, 2011 at 6:46 pm #116697Thanks, guys. The seller is his wife’s uncle, so I am hoping that he wouldn’t try to sell him a worn-out gun. I think he said he wanted $550 for it.
December 12, 2011 at 6:57 pm #116701Is that the classic Beretta Mel Gibson had in that series?
Alwasy wanted one of those.December 14, 2011 at 11:58 pm #116800Well, he picked it up for $500. I’m excited to shoot it
‘zuki, this is the gun. Is that what you were thinking of? I’m too young for your Mel Gibson reference.
December 15, 2011 at 1:48 pm #116817That’s it. Sweet. Let us know how it shoots. I have always wanted one of those.
ps-too young for Mel?! That’s disturbing. How about John Wayne?

I’m familiar with Mel, just not that movie.
December 15, 2011 at 3:01 pm #116820Here you go, Suzuki! I was only 6 when Lethal Weapon came out; 8 when Lethal Weapon 2 came out.
December 15, 2011 at 3:49 pm #116827They do rerun movies you know guys. I love all the classics but was not born when they came out.
Lethal weapon needs to be seen. Especially now that you have that gun.December 17, 2011 at 12:22 pm #116924Ah…just giving you $hit. I have seen parts of LW, just neve sat and watched the whole thing.

LOL! Nope. He’s getting it from his wife’s uncle. Said he’s picking it up at Christmas, so I won’t get to shoot if for a week or two.January 27, 2012 at 12:17 am #118075Quote:

We finally got to the range tonight. That 92FS is pretty sweet! I like it a lotThe guy next to us was shooting a Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag. My .357 GP100 was like a baby brother. Dang, that thing made a big BOOM!
January 27, 2012 at 12:58 pm #118096I brought my Ruger .44 the other night to Bills. I think I unloaded it twice or maybe 3 times before I’d had enough of it. Thought I saw the exact gun (Beretta) in a guncase there? It was a stainless Beretta that looked exactly like your pic.

You’ve got to let me shoot that sometime. I have never shot a .44 mag.johneePosts: 731January 30, 2012 at 8:17 pm #118171What barrel is on your Redhawk, Suzuki?
I shot a stainless Redhawk .44 with a 10 inch barrel and I didn’t think the recoil was bad at all. With a scope it was a fairly hefty package, but I was expecting a lot more buck and bark than it actually had with factor ammo. I only shot 30 rounds, but it was a nice handgun. I’m sure as with most revolvers, barrel length makes a difference.
Or it might be down to frame of reference. I shoot a Thompson Contenter in 7-30 Waters for deer hunting. The 7-30 is a .30-30 Winchester case reformed and necked down to 7MM. Using hopped-up handloads recoil is significant as is muzzle blast and report. Granted, this is not a caliber one would use for casual plinking, but when doing load development work, I’m good for about 20 rounds and then I get the yips and have to quit.

January 30, 2012 at 11:14 pm #118180Not sure of length. Half the prob with mine is I only have bought the high power loads. Also the grips on mine are not the greatest for shooting. I bought a set of beautiful wood grips for it because its normally a decoration on the wall. I just shoot it once in a while to make sure it works and that I am proficient at handling it.
