Last year I started shooting Barns Expanders 12 Ga 2 3/4 inch 1oz slugs, I love this slug leaves one hell of a hole and an awesome blood trail if there is any trailing at all. My question is I accidentally bought two boxes of the 2 3/4 inch in a 3/4oz, what is the difference from the 3/4 to the 1oz? What are the advantages & disadvantages? I do not think I can exchange them either, I am pretty sure you can not exchange or return ammo once you buy it you own it.

I did the same thing last year! I bought a box of each by accident (life happens). I’ve always shot the barnes expander, and both in 1oz and 3/4oz, and stuck with the 3/4oz. I took a shot with the 1oz after sighting in with 3/4oz, and the only difference was the drop off at 100 yards. 1oz dipped about 1.5-2 in. lower at 100. Minute, if you ask me. This is coming out of a scoped mossy 500 (2010) with a fully rifled barrel.

Steve, I too shoot the 1 oz. I have tried the 3/4 thinking it would be nice for less drop over 100yrds. I couldn’t get the 3/4’s to pattern for nothing. The faster velocity of the 3/4’s just doesn’t jive with my barrels rate of twist. I shoot a mossberg 695 bolt. I’d give them away before I’d take them in the woods and have a miss.
