Just curious guys. How many of you still look at your first rifle, shotgun, or handgun, and no matter what you’ve accumulated since, it’s still your “go to” gun? Or, how many of us found something along the way that was much better and the first gun is just “the sentimental” keepsake?

I have a Remington Model 582 that I paid dad for out of my paper route money when I was 12. It’s a tube fed bolt action and my first gun. To this day, I’m not sure I’ve found it’s equal in reliability or accuracy. Boy, 1979 seems like a long time ago!!!

My first shotgun is still my “go to” shotgun. My first rifle was a.right hand bolt… I’m left handed. I still shoot it a lot but it is only carried in the woods after my buck tag is filled.

My first rifle was my grandfathers old model 30 with an open site. My father, who is now 71 still shoots it. We still tell the story of my grandfather saying,”what the He.. do you need to site it in for, it shoots right where you aim it”. Pretty funny. Ammo on the other hand is getting harder to find.

I realize I posted that incorrectly. The rifle is actually a remington model #141 gamemaster pump. My dad said it was remington’s attempt to compete with the winchester model 94. It is a 30 caliber. we think it was possibly remington’s 1st pump rifle. It has a lyman peep site which was a add-on that my grandfather had done many years ago. cool little brush gun. My father wanted to put a small scope on it as his vision is deteriorating but the gunsmith strongly discouraged him from doing that to this gun.
