Submitted my a long time Ido Member that would like his name withheld. His many good deeds over the years I’ve known him are seldom applauded because he’s never been one for taking credit. Unless by accident, we never know about them. That’s just the way he is.

    ***************

Eau Claire WI. A guy is sitting home on a Saturday night. His dogs start barking and raising hell by the back door. His wife walks in and says, “I think someone is trying to get in the back door”. The guy thinks it may be a neighbor so he checks it out by going to the front door, walking outside and checking. Upon doing this the guy realizes he does not know this person, who now is crashing the door by hitting it with his shoulder. The the yells, “hey this is my house-what the hell are you doing”? The stranger says “[censored] you, I’m breaking in”. and continues to shoulder the door. The home owner, who is standing next to his garage door reaches down to see if it is unlocked, which it is. Since the scumbag is still busy trying to bust the door down the homeowner enters the garage and retrieves his 9mm out of his car. As he turns around Mr. scumbag enters the garage and says- “man I am going to **** you up”. At which point the homeowner chambers a round points it at the guy and says- “you have 2 choices, either wait for the cops or die”! The scumbag turns and takes off and is picked up by the cops a block and a half away.

A story out of the newspaper?

NO, the homeowner came to me last summer and inquired about pistols. I took him to the range and let him fire a 9mm and .380. He had never fired a pistol before. He decided on getting a 9mm. We then returned to the range 3 more times where I taught him safety, how to clear clothing and unholster the weapon. How to engage in close combat shooting, and how to engage multiple attackers.

When he told me this story he said, ” you know I didn’t have to think about anything”. I had the pistol at the ready and was in the combat stance ready to engage.

Luckily the encounter was resolved without having to fire a shot.

I am not taking credit for any of this but it made me feel good that the guy was confident from the training to properly defend his family. I can’t help to think what would have happened if he was not armed or didn’t have those basic lessons.

Glad to hear everything turned out well.

A gun is a lot like a seatbelt. I can go years without needing my seatbelt, but I always wear it. I’d rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Hopefully, our new Governor will sign a CC bill this year.

Scary stuff. Too many dirtballs in this world. Stinks that the guy is probably out and back at it.

Another good story of why we need to protect our right to bear arms. Thanks for posting Brian.

You may be right about this but at the same time, it may be just the circumstance needed to turn this guy around. In the back of his mind, he’s always going to wonder if the next house he decides to hit is armed as well. It might be enough for him to decide it’s not worth the risk.

We’ll never know…..but this is the benefit of having the right to bear arms. Every dirtbag has to consider that he might get shot for criminal behavior.

I too am glad that everything turned out okay but stories like this need the same publicity to PROMOTE conceal and carry, or simply the right to be armed, and this needs to hit a newscast or two, maybe even a few papers. Too many people are being media dooped into believing that a gun deters nothing and we need to combat this wives tale with stories like this one.
