I am starting off the new year with a new hand gun. I have been wanting a 22 hand gun for a while now, just to shoot for fun. Went to a gun show today and got a Ruger Mark III 22/45 hunter with a 6 7/8″ barrel. Seams to be a well made gun. I disassembled and reassembled it today just to be familiar with it. It is a little tricky to put back together but they are supposed to get easier as they get broke in. Hopeing to shoot it tomorrow.

I have the 22 ruger, I put a Red Dot scope on it. I have used it for coon hunting , rabbit, and squirrel hunting.

A fun gun to shoot …a bigger clip would be nice 7 shots go very fast.

I have had mine at least for 25 years. Tasco was one of the first back then to come out with the Red Dot scope it is 1.5 magnification. My only gripe is I wish at the time they had a little more magnification. I actually made a holster to fit it and hand stitched it. Finding a holster for a scoped handgun back then was darn near impossible and very expensive, they had to be custom made.

I purchased it when I use to do a lot of coon hunting. Handling a dog a couple of coon and a rifle was a job in it self, the pistol worked so well with the scope, I never carried a rifle after that.

Rabbits were a hoot in the snow with that red dot it stood out like a sore thumb. Trying to hit a rabbit on the run favored the rabbit, but when I would get one it was great.

Looks like fun! .22 pistols are tough to beat for the fun factor.

Awesome pistol, you will have fun. My Mark II can hit a pop can at 100 yards the vast majority of the shots (rest, 1-4x scope, etc…)

    Great gun.

Very nice looking piece! Just wondering what you think of the hi-vis for pin-point accuracy? My experience with rifles that have them has been less than steller and the “straight-8” design of my 9mm has also proven to be a challenge. Just wondering whether or not you wish it had tradition irons on it?

I purposly got the high vis. I like them and if green is to bright it comes with red as well. The iron sights of pistols are way bigger than this light pipe so for me it is harder to get pinpoint acuracy out of iron sights. I might put a bushnell trophy red dot on it that I have and try that too. 22 ammo is cheap so resighting is no big deal.

Got the mark III all sighted in and am very happy with it. At 20 yards off bags I am able to hit 12 gauge shot gun shells. Some ammo especialy remington box golden bullet does not feed well at all but most others ive tried work just fine. Took the gun apart for cleaning again and this time it went back together great. You really have to watch the hammer position on these when reassembling. On paper I could hold about an inch group at 20. Now I gotta work on my free hand shooting it opens my groups up to 2 to 3 inches. guess at least it doesn’t cost much to practice with this one. Got a houge slip on grip on the way too. Can’t wait to see how it feels.
