Has anyone had any experience with some of the newer air rifles equiped with the silencer? Noise is the primary goal and my past experience with air rifles were that they were actually as loud if not louder than some 22 cal rounds.

Dean, i have a hammerli that i think is louder than a bb gun and less than a 22, has plenty of knock down power..

I’ll bring it down next time and you can give it a shot.

If you have a 22 try shooting Colibri Rounds they are just primer fired rounds. Very quiet. They take care of Racoons, opossomes, cats, about what ever prety good. But you have to be within 20 yrds.

They do work well out of a short-barreled gun. It’s a crap-shoot with a .22 rifle, though. I have had them get stuck in the barrel.

I have used the colibri rounds….but I too was scared of shooting them in the rifle…especially when they tell you not too on the box.Currently, the CCI CB round is being used and is working so-so.Trying not to disturb the neighbors and have humane kills at the same time.

I have a Gamo Whisper and it is a very fun tool to have around. It is very, very quiet and if you shoot the same pellets, it is very accurate. I have it in the .177 version.

I also have that Gamo Whisper .177 Shoot it all the time in my St Paul back yard. Has whacked many, many tree rats that’s for sure. Nice scoped combo for under $200.

Dean, let me know if you want to shoot it (or borrow if) I’ll bring it down.
