Just thought I would share with everyone my decision to go with a Nikon Monarch 4-16×42 niko plex reticle with side locking parallax on my new .17HMR. And a little report on the gun too. I have put a couple hundred rounds through this gun so far and am very happy with the set up. I haven’t had a chance to shoot past 100 yards yet. At my local range the police department leaves a lot off empty .40 s&w cases on the ground and I have found that they are great 100 yard targets for the .17 HMR. I havn’t shot in too much wind yet but with 5 -10 mph wind you have to adjust about 3/4″ to 1″ at 100 yards for wind. The acu trigger is pretty good when turned down to the low end and breaks pretty clean. The safety on this gun is very stiff when takeing off safe, but I’m sure with time and use it will get a bit smoother. Love the Nikon scope and it was well worth the money over cheaper scopes. Very clear and the 16x magnification is nice to have. Shooting off bags on the bench I easaly get 1/2″ to 3/4″ group at 100yards. It is a very fun and cheap to shoot gun that my boys and I have a lot of fun with.

Sweet rig! I have an almost identical gun. I went with the 4×16 Weaver Classic with the fine retical. Took this to North Dakota shooting flicker tail gophers. We hit hundreds! Some out to 160 yards! The rig performed flawlessly.

The stock is factory, but the gun did have to be ordered because no one around had any in stock. Wish I could have chose the color, but I’m ok with this one. I think you can get the same stock for a ruger 10/22. Richards microfit has a bunch of cool colors and styles. Next I’m thinking of building the 10/22 into a bench gun.
