My 9mm and 380 ammo is turning green in my handguns!
I’ve been waiting for the prices to start going back to something realistic…or are these the prices we’re going to be stuck with?

My neighbor works for a local company that is rather large in this industry. He specifically does market studies on ammo. I’ll run your question by him.
I personally don’t see it changing anytime soon with the current government administration in place. Right or wrong, they have put a real fear in people about gun control.
I have the equipment to reload those calibers BK. Drop me a line if you want to load some sometime.
I should have been saving my brass!
Will do..might be more toward August though. Thanks for the offer!
Simple supply and demand…. I believe we can thank the NRA and Ammo manufacturers & all the talk about serial numbered ammo, it sure put the fear in alot of people who started stock piling and haven’t slowed up yet.
Your blaming the NRA and ammo companies?
It had nothing to do with the Feds stealing the brass and sending it to China. It has nothing to do with the anti gun U.N. It has nothing to do with the anti gun leftist in power at this moment! Give me a break!

So..the feds “stole” all the brass and sent it to China ??? As long as we are giving out breaks… There is no “shortage” of ammo…other than what was created, when the extremists started saying the gov’t is coming for your guns… serial numbering your ammo… those who believed the sky was falling, ran out and bought every box of brass they could find (before it was numbered).. this then created a shortage, as far as what was on the shelfs…. in turn, ammo manufacturers, which are a “business” seen the opportunity to ride the “wave” that was created… increasing their price and making hay while the sun was shining…. if you don’t believe me, just do a little research… I wasn’t even born at night… actually it was early morning… what’s your theory again ??? The feds stealing brass… or the sitting president raised prices ??? (somebody get that price gun away from him) Break given…
No, you do your research. You blame the NRA and ammo companies- yea thats a good one!
Thats why every vendor at the gun shows I attended were showing 60 year old ladies how to handle pistols.
Yep, the NRA really got to them didn’t they.
The threats are real. you don’t believe it, thats fine. Just sit there and let your freedom slip out the door.
I made this up too.
One of the companies that brought attention to the issue is Georgia Arms, which for the last 15 years has been purchasing fired brass casings from the Department of Defense and private government surplus liquidators. The military collects the discarded casings from fired rounds, then sells them through liquidators to companies like Georgia Arms that remanufacture the casings into ammunition for the law enforcement and civilian gun owner communities.
But earlier this month, Georgia Arms received a canceled order, informed by its supplier that the government now requires fired brass casings be mutilated, in other words, destroyed to a scrap metal state.
The policy change, handed down from the Department of Defense through the Defense Logistics Agency, cut a supply leg out from underneath ammunition manufacturers.
The policy compelled Georgia Arms to cancel all sales of .223 and .308 ammunition, rounds used, respectively, in semi-automatic and deer hunting rifles, until further notice. Sharch Manufacturing, Inc. had announced the same cancellation of its .223 and .308 brass reloading components.
Grannys are arming..hence, the price of ammo goes up ??? Come on, are you serious ??? Are you really saying that ??? I guess you did !!! In case you actually want to read something…. Fact Check
big G
Care to check the date on your fact check letter. Kind of moots the point doesn’t it?
And no I am not saying Granny’s buying guns is what caused the shortage. My point being is citizens were arming themselves and it wasn’t because the were card carrying members of the NRA!
Good conversation “G” .
Exactly The DOD saying all ammo had to be shredded..never came to fruition. What I am saying is… the ammo manu’s love it when the public “thinks” they will not be able to buy ammo tomorrow…. it makes them buy it today !!! When it is flying off the shelf, they can mark it up…. this is what happened IMHO and it has not come down yet. The fear of losing ammo, guns or the right to protect yourself, is keeping the price inflated. Do I believe there are not people who would just as soon see that I don’t own any guns, absolutely not, they are the other extreme. By the same token, IMHO, there are guns/weapons, that do not belong in a home gunsafe…. I like to think of myself as a reasonable realist Nobody will take my guns without a fight, but by the same token, I don’t think my neighbor should legally own RPG’s…. I love a good debate
I see your point but I don’t buy into your resource for information.
Keep in mind: Senator Obama was the first Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which was a Division, or Project, of the Annenberg Foundation.
The Annenberg Foundation is the creator of factcheck.org
I think they may not be down the middle as they claim.
Now one other thing, RPG’s are a blast to shoot. So are fully atomatic weapons. I should be able to own both.
Same thing is on snopes….. I fired RPG’s back in the day… yes they are cool… but by the same token, they are not used for sport/hunting/home defense…
If I had an RPG for home defense, I’d have it hanging on the garage wall, big and proud. Nobody would mess with me then!! Shooting that and the hand grenades were a couple of the funnest things in basics.
I guess I’m somewhere between Don and G. I don’t believe the government has the right to tell me what I can and can’t own. However, I don’t know why I would need an RPG either.
Back to the original topic, no doubt the manufactures are seizing the moment. However, no doubt Obama’s track ready leads me to believe he is in full support of gun control. I guess I’d rather we error on the side of caution when it comes to this issue. Which to me means there is a real threat from the government/antis.
Does anyone know why the government decided to destroy all these useful casing and how much more is that costing these businesses? I guess the original manufactures probably like it. However, are they tooled to keep up with the inflated demand?
I too do not think I need any gov’t telling me what I can and can’t own… but there is plenty of others that I think do need it…. case in point… “Kooty”…
Goes back to my old saying..90% of the laws, are written for 10% of the people…
For the part about shredding… from what I have read (and I have not read EVERYTHING) the concern was from the Dept of Defense. Spent casings were classified as something that had to be destroyed, so it could not fall into the wrong hands…in other words, any brass sold as scrap to CHINA, had to be shredded. Turns out, not one casing was shredded and Georgia Arms and other re-loading companies, still are purchasing the spent casings. It should not cost us anymore, any inflation in cost is because the manufacturers jacked it up, back when everybody got nervous about serial numbering casings and that the current admin would knock on your door to collect your guns, and alot of people ran out and bought every gun and box of ammo that they could. That created a shortage, which just fueled the fires. Now that the shelfs are full again, you would think that the manufacturers would ramp the pricing back to what it was.. that being BK’s question… when will it go down ??? Nobody knows really, if the scare is put on again, it could actually go up !!
You NEED so much more than I can offer you…
I’ll finally see my neighbor tonight and this will be interesting fodder for conversation.
Until the warehouses are again stockpiled with good supply, no matter the cause or reason, prices will not come down. Truthfully, the “hoarders” should help this along. If they’re not buying anything for awhile and the rest of us are just buying what we need, the warehouses will fill up and they’ll have to drop the prices to get the products moving again. “BIG SALE!!!!! And the lemmings will rush to the cash register with their great deals in hand.
Pretty much true Still. I’ll always take my reloads over a lot of ammo. And my new never shot brass hand loads for rifle are better than most anyway.
