Wondering what it takes to be an FFL? How much money per year, how many guns can you purchase, etc.?

    Thanks!

Joel, last time I had one all it took was a backround check, $30.00, and there is no limit on purchases. I gave up the FFL when thay wanted $300.00 per year.

    Gotta love “Big Brother”

I’ve heard it’s upwards of $1k a year now, with them selling “kits” on the internet to help expedite the process. Seriously? That bad?

A few of the local sportman’s clubs and our NWTF group is thinking about going this route for our banquets.

alot of ffl transfer fees are very inexpensive. With some searching Ill bet you could find someone who would donate thier services for nwtf banquets and others.

Ditto.. I know Gander does alot for the local NWTF, they don’t even buy all the guns there and they register & paper for them.

My goal here is not to bring down any of the local businesses we’ve done work with, but our experiences have been less than stellar with upwards of 5 different gun retailers at this point, including some of the big-box stores.

The success of our banquets rely, hands-down, on our ability to secure firearms and other items at steeply discounted rates or as donations. Our corn programs, scholarship fund, food-shelf donations, etc. need money to be successful, and the better we can buy these items, the better off our finances are.

In the past, we’ve had a few that are looking to make a slight profit on the arms, as well as get money from the transfers, and also get a free prime rib dinner with drinks. We love taking care of people, but we’re all donating our time too, and we pay for our meals.

It’s been a bottleneck in our situation that we’ve had to pass thru for some-time, and we just so happen to have a committee member looking to get his FFL at the same time. Seems like a win-win as long as he’s willing to do it, but the process seems tough.

    Joel,

If your having issues with the FFL license and/or finding someone to process guns and paperwork for you, let me know and I can put you in contact with who we use for the Shed Fest.

Joel have you tried Gun Stop in Excelsior, Mn. They are fantastic with everything we’ve transfered.

I believe a friend of mine has a FFL and I thought he said it was a 100 dollar application fee and 300 for the liscense and that is good for 3 years.
