My goal here is not to bring down any of the local businesses we’ve done work with, but our experiences have been less than stellar with upwards of 5 different gun retailers at this point, including some of the big-box stores.
The success of our banquets rely, hands-down, on our ability to secure firearms and other items at steeply discounted rates or as donations. Our corn programs, scholarship fund, food-shelf donations, etc. need money to be successful, and the better we can buy these items, the better off our finances are.
In the past, we’ve had a few that are looking to make a slight profit on the arms, as well as get money from the transfers, and also get a free prime rib dinner with drinks. We love taking care of people, but we’re all donating our time too, and we pay for our meals.
It’s been a bottleneck in our situation that we’ve had to pass thru for some-time, and we just so happen to have a committee member looking to get his FFL at the same time. Seems like a win-win as long as he’s willing to do it, but the process seems tough.
