I shoot the tc omega. I’ve had it for 5 years now and couldn’t be happier with it. Very accurate, dependable gun just outfitted it with a scope and its dialed in for those long shots.
good luckDecember 19, 2009 at 1:00 am #72768My vote is for a T/C Omega. It’s not the newest and fanciest muzzleloader, but it’s what I shoot and I love it. I have a stainless version with a black thumbhole synthetic stock and a Nikon ProStaff 3-9. One reason I like it over the Triumph is that it actually comes in stainless, rather than the stainless-looking finish that comes on the Triumph (or at least did when I looked into them). Mine will shoot just over 1″ at 100 yards, and 2.5″ at 200 (once I figured out the right load). Overall I think it’s a great gun, and I would purchase the same gun over again. Just my .02!
December 19, 2009 at 3:11 am #72838By far not the best on the market but I’m 100% satisfied with my CVA Optima. Mine is 5 years old and a few minor changes have been made since then. Dependable, simple and accurate as heck. Breaks down with one screw for super simple cleaning.
December 19, 2009 at 3:43 am #72856I had the optima elite and sold it to my father in law i liked it and it shot great just didnt care for the stock on it felt it was a little big i was thinking about getting another one but thinking the reg optima or the accura or the tc bone collector and my other ? is is there anything that takes smokeless powder and is there a plus side to having a gun it shoots it other than no smoke dose it help with range at all or anything like that ?

Personally one of my favorite things about the muzzleloader is the smoke I would keep that part

X 2 . Love mine
December 19, 2009 at 3:55 am #72864I also have a CVA optima. Easy to clean, shoots great, not expensive and it looks nice. That’s all I need.
whittsendPosts: 2389December 19, 2009 at 5:21 pm #72895I shoot the Encore. Great MZ so far. Bought the 7mm RM pro hunter barrel and stock for it this year and it worked great to.
I don’t think you can go wrong with a lot of the brands out there, but I would definately give TC the nod for being one of the best.

X 3… minus the scope, mine is strictly for muzzy season

neusch303Posts: 539December 22, 2009 at 3:15 pm #73049Savage 10ML. It’s the only muzzleloader that you can use smokeless powder in. Dad purchased one this fall and has managed to get it shooting a 3″ group at 200 yards.
We haven’t tested it out to 300 yet, but looking at the ballistics, it should be very capable to achieve that distance with plenty of power.
December 23, 2009 at 4:13 am #73194I have been through 2 Thompson’s…a thumbhole laminate Omega and a Pro-Hunter both were good but not quite the right fit for me as my accuracy varied a little more than I liked as there was for me a little too much ‘play’ in the sights. This year I bought a CVA Accura and has exactly 6 rounds through it.
Expecting some adjustment needed I was absolutely astonished when first shot out of the box at 25 yards found the bullseye. Next 4 shots at 50 yards (again no adjustment) littered a 4 inch circle in the center of the target and finally my 6th and final shot at 100 yards found the bullseye 1″ left of center. All with open sights all without any adjustments. Easiest sight in I have ever done on any weapon.
So far the Accura has lived up to the hype as the most accurate muzzleloader I have ever shot…I got a 30 day money back guarantee with this claim and it is still with me as it lived up to its billing. Happy camper here with the CVA Accura.
