Hey guys – i’m looking to ask for this muzzleloader for xmas. LINK HERE
Any opinions or prior knowledge would be appreciated! I plan on using it with a 1.5 – 4.5x scope during shotgun season. Also open to any load tips. I don’t need long range… 75 yards MAX.
    Thanks ahead of time!

Sorry don’t know a bit about the gun but have had great results w/triple 7 pellets and shockwaves. Please, please stay away from powerbelts. They’re accuracy is great but their performance on deer is far from stellar.

Please elaborate on this statement. I shoot them and only have one deer to show for it…but it was as dead as any deer I have shot with anything else. The 250 gr with 2 pellets of Triple 7 holds a 100 yard group as tight as any rifle I own. I am not saying they are better or worse than shockwaves, but I love the Powerbelts! BTW, I am shooting a Thompson Omega Z5 like a bunch of other guys here, and absolutely love the gun and the thumbhole stock!

I held the gun today at Scheels – I liked it a lot! Felt as solid as any of the others IMO.

The first combo i’m going to try are 2 white-hots and the cabelas x-tendend range sabots in 250gr.

    I shall report back!

Traditions are a great value, and very accurate from what i have heard.

sorry to deviate from the original topic…

I agree with chris, I just dropped a doe like it was hot with the aerotip series powerbelt in 175 gr…out of a pistol none the less spine shattered, and ruined some meat, maybe that’s what you meant? too much damage?

In my experience they don’t perform well on deer. I’ve dropped a few deer with them, but one in particular comes to mind in which there was virtually no expansion of the bullet. I shot the deer quartering-to through the front shoulder, which should have expanded the bullet, but rather sheared it in half. Pretty disappointing performance in my opinion.
