I am wondering how the shell or end of the barrel bore-sighters work you can purchase at the stores? I typically take mine in to a shop and have them bore sight it for me, but I am wondering if it is accurate and easy to do it yourself? Also for boresighting what distance do you do that at?

I have a older bushnell bore sight with diffrent arbors for diffrent calibers, it is easy to use, works best with a scope. It is hard to see with iron sights.

You really don’t even need a bore sight thingamabob. You can do it the old-fashioned way.

I do it that way, but I’ve seen some guys use a laser. I would just do it at 30-50 feet or so. The whole point being to get on paper, so you can do your final adjustment on the range.

That was pretty cool. Makes perfect sense.

I don’t have audio on my PC, so i have no way of knowing what was explained in the vid. All I own are bolts, so its super simple to bore sight with out the lazer or optic. Set the rifle in a lead sled with the bolt removed. Back up and look at a target about 500 or more yards away through the chamber end of the barrel. Look through the scope and adjust until it meets the same piont of refence. Usually I’m centered and about 3-4″ high at a hundred yrds
