I broke down over vacation and picked up a
Bushmaster X15 A4. Standard model which is fine. I really wanted a basic AR without having to spend more on optics and such. So far so good. I have put a 100 rounds through it and learned how to tear it down. (and re-assemble!)
As far as cleanin goes is there a special kit available for this type of gun with tool shaped for the job? Especially the bore area. I can hardly touch that area with conventional cleaning tools. Otherwise everything is pretty easy to get at. Another question is on Lube. Should I be buying a certian brand or consistency? I read about CLP in the manual. I normally use REM Oil for everything and did just use it on my AR cleanup. But REM oil may be a tad thin for this application? I have used it for years on all my other semi-automatics.

Thanks again. I jumped right into it and tore it completly apart. The fear is gone. Since I will rarely shoot it I opted to purchase a government issue field kit. Its cheap and along with my other cleaning stuff will definitely get the job done. Ammo is easy to find too. I’m finding it between .40-.50 per round. Not cheap but at least I can get enough for me to shoot as much as I want.

Mike, Breakfree is OK…but Militech or Militek, I gotta look on my bottle for the correct spelling…any gunsmith or gun geek worth their salt uses this. It is 100% synthetic and not prone to thickening in cold. It is also recommended for use in all CC weapons, especially double action semis that sit in pockets for a while.

Yup run it on your bolt while shooting. Save a lot of trouble later.
