I think this one’s ready…

I’m in the process of working up some fast, flat shooting rounds for my prairie dog rifles. Last night I got my Savage heavy barreled .204 dialed in with a near max. load of Reloder 10x and the Sierra 39 gr. Blitzkings. I’ve heard that they’re bad medicine for pasture poodles and great for long distance shooting. Next one on deck is the .17 Fireball… It shoots the 25 gr. Berger HP’s pretty well, but I’ve got some 25 gr. Kindler Gold’s on the way that I want to try out. They’re supposed to be the real deal for the .17’s… time will tell. Anyone else heading out to snipe some prairie dogs this summer?

I usually get to blast a few when I head back to Stacie’s parents. They have a few Dog Towns on their property I usually spend a good part of an afternoon shooting.

Good Luck with that new load.

I will for sure spend a day or two in October when finished antelope hunting in Wyoming. Trying to find some public or private land in SD for a June trip. Any help for the SD shoot appreciated.

I’m hunting on some private land south of the Badlands… what I’ve done in the past is arrange a property or two in advance then scout for others when I get down there. There is some good information on the South Dakota Fish and Game site… South Dakota Prairie Dogs

Looking good str8shooter! I’m going to be picking your brain this summer about a new predator rifle.

Hey! I shot down that way in the ’70’s! I was told it wasn’t private land just open range government property.

Came back from my first dog shoot and loaded up 1000 rounds of .17 Remington, 1000 rounds of 222 Magnum and a couple hundred rounds of .243.

    Never made it back.

I can see that doggie jumping with that .204
