OK, Ritter and I go to Oakdale to sight in the guns, and we are both shooting a little high. The range officer at first tells us that we need to move the sight forward (Up the ramp) to bring the point of impact down. Well we both move them forward, and we were off the paper high.

Does bringing the sight back towards you (Down) lower the point of impact???

(Hey, if anyone is looking for a Thompson Omega thumbhole in black cheap…the WalMart in Pine City has one for $298 with a $50 rebate until 12-31-08.)

Yes lowering it will lower your point of impact.

Thanks Muskyman…that’s what we initially thought but the “Expert” at the range had us doing otherwise. With muzzleloaders that sucks! You only get 1 maybe 2 shots in before they make the line safe. Then add the fact that we were moving the wrong way with the sights, and guns getting dirty…the pucker factor was up there.

I have shot scopes and Ultra dots for so long, I have long forgotten how to adjust ramp sights. Next year I will have an Ultra Dot on this one. I have the form coming from the DNR. Dr. signs it, and it’s on! Anyone that needs reading glasses can do this. Take the form into your Dr., and you can put a zero magnification Dot scope on.
